I dont know what to do anymore... I have dizziness and problems with my balance when walking, im starting to fall in depression... I have this illness fo 3 years and i recovered from it for a year but 3 weeks ago i had a severe vertigo and imbalance where i almost faint and now its back... My dizziness and imbalance is worst every afternoon till 11pm i did all kind of test except mri cuz im afraid to do it... Can anyone please help me and share their experience too...
I really need help over this situation... Im losing my mind
You really need to get the MRI to rule out anything that would show up on it that can be treated. I doubt seriously that it will show anything, though. What tests did you have before and what was your diagnosis? What did you do the first time for treatment?
Hi ,I know how you feel believe me. I felt like I'm going to die on November last year and ever since I feel like that. My doctor said I have anxiety and panic attacks and will go away, but it didn't. That change my life and I really got anxiety and panic attacks, because I didn't know what is going on with me. Last was to my doctor and explain how exactly I feel and he sent me to neurologist to make me MRI and EEG . Don't be afraid of the test, just do it ,if you think that is your chance to find out the cause of your illness.
I wish you luck and don't over think!
Many blessings!
Has your hearing been affected? You really should have mri if suggested, it' rules out anything serious. How old are you, by the way. Cheers DEL
Hello PJ
So sorry to hear your plight,
I have onl suffered for a short while, seems like a lifetime!!
I have been prescribed Betahistine, which was helping, not sure now!
I wake with it every morning, after disrupted sleep, then fight with it all day.
The Betahistine did help, initially, but seems much weaker now. As for the MRI other people who've had this have reported little benefit from the experience, as it rarely shows anything being wrong. I've had 2 MRI's following a stroke and several TIA's (ministrokes) and can sympathise with your fears.
Hope you get some resolution soon.
Best wishes

Hi i had VNG test, blood test, eye test, motor skill test,ENT and all r normal... The doctor told ne that mri is not really needed cuz all test r normal, they said this is only vertigo, anxiety and panic attack... But i really do feel i have problems with my balance and im really dizzy every afternoon...
Thanks for answer, are you also dizzy and have problems with walking???
Thank you for your concern, sometimes my left or right ear will suddenly shut down and ill hear a echo sound like on microphone and im 25 i always have problem with balance problem and dizziness every afternoon
Thanks pauline, this is really scary... I dont know what to do and i dont enjoy my everyday life because of dizziness and balance problem...
So sorry to hear how much of a problem this is to you. But I would say you need to have all the tests possible. And there is info on this site about vestibular rehabilitation which may help. Good luck H
if you don't want an MRI due to feeling claustrophobic you can always ask to have a CT scan instead. Best wishes.
Are you able to get and mri? I haven't done it yet and don't like small spaces but an open ended wide bore looks ok. I think surely if the Drs suspected something sinister they would send for mri? I wonder why it's a time thing, are you eating well, hydrated with water, breathing properly ? From having this I'm not down playing what you have but just checking off the basics .
Yesterday after spending 3 weeks and half a day permanently dizzy , mine suddenly cleared , no idea why, all I did diff was start high dose vitamin c powder in case of ear infection , prob not related but couldn't hurt.
I know it's so scary, I really hope you can get an answer soon.
Sounds like Vestibular Neuritis but, the MRI would be good to rule out an Acoustic Neuroma or any other head issues. Did you have a concussion before this started? Car accident, etc.?
I'm dizzy all the time and my job was a server . I couldn't do it anymore even got laid off on the 3rd. It's just awful. I feel like I'm floating and I'm not on earth. I checked my eyes becouse I felt like I can't see clearly, but my eyes are ok . I got anxiety and panic attacks, but I'm perfectly fine in good mood ,my mind is calm but I still feel like I'm not on earth. Really bad sensation and freaks me out .
PJ ,I've had this now 4 yrs, every day no let up ,what I've got is MdDS ,like Im on a boat from the minute I stand up on my legs .its full name is Mal de Debarquement Syndrome go have a look up on that ,as you've said you feel it when you walk .
What I will ask is Do you have any neck ache /pain .
I would ask your GP for. Referral to a Neuro otologist,,as I recommend to everyone on here. not a Neurologist only as they are, mainly looking for tumours and or damage, and that kind of thing. You obviously have a vestibular problem and the otologist people know more than Ents.they will do much more testing and give you a proper course of treatment. It,s your right to have get this referral,so don,t be fobbed off Okay!
I'm sorry you're having so many problems with balance and dizziness. This is a debilitating experience. Have you had your neck checked? For some,t this is just a matter of a vertebrae being out of alignment.i had an entire day today of no dizziness. hiked 4 miles and stayed busy..then sitting at the computer.i felt myself sway...i do know i have a bad neck, and inner ear problems...Hang in there. try Dr. Carol Foster's exercise..it might do the trick. and i hope you get x-rayed to take a look at your neck/spine...I know a guy who was in horrible head pain, seeing double, and constantly nauseas. His Dr wanted to do an MRI..but he went to a chiro first..Turned out to be a pinched nerve from years of looking down in his work...Take care. keep us posted.
oh, and please try saline nasal rinses...they can help move the ear tubes and restore balance.
God bless you, Pauline. You are a trooper.
