Dizziness worse when hot?!

I've been dizzy for 10 years last March. I've noticed that being warm is making it worse.

Any other long term CONSTANTLY dizzy people having the same reaction?

It's 34 degrees here and I'm going crazy.

Hi Sarah! I definitely have more spells when I get hot, especially my face! If I wear sweatshirts in the winter, I get hot, and have more vertigo. I'm not sure why.

I imagine it may have to do with the change in fluids in the vestibular system when you are hot??

That is hot! No,  can't say I share the same, I get it when I bend down mostly or tilt my head to one side. Stay cool!

Hi Sarah,

Sorry you have been dizzy so long.   I am also past the 10 year mark and have fairly constant dizziness, not vertigo room spinning dizzy, but more of an imbalance unsteadiness type of dizzy.  I don't notice any difference with temperature.  Did you finally get a diagnosis?

Oh yes!  All this week IMhave been usng cold packs around my neck and back to keep me cool. If my dizziness is worse for any reason i do this anyway, mits a life saver!

wow 10 yrs, I thought my 6 yr was long. My doctor thinks mne is vestibular migrain and I am getting Botox shots to see if it helps. Also my C2 is off so my chiropractor is working on that.

My 34degrees, were are you? I'm in Florida and it 98 here, I would love it to be 50 let alone 34, which it almost never gets here. I would be freezing at 34.

Tens years that's a long time, I've had MAV for a year. But the only heat thing I've noticed is when I have a hot flash, right before it starts I feel dizzier and during more dizzy. It's kind of weird but that's how it is. I know when Perimenopaus started 6 years ago I had dizziness and at that time I was dx'd with bppv and rid the reply and Brandt doroff exercises and it went away until a year ago when this MAV hit, which was in the 3 rd rear of post menopaus. I wonder if hormones have something to do with, but men get this so maybe not.

The whole mess is awful, but I hope you feel better and can stay cool

34 may be Celcius. It's a shame Patient doesn't automatically tell us where we all are in the world.

Hi Sarah, I am 4 yrs fairly constant dizziness, not vertigo room spinning dizzy, but more of an imbalance unsteadiness type of dizzy.  I am in Florida, hot is worse but it is combined with bad fatigue. hard to keep going for me. I have to increase hydration and salt, and watch out for faint spells. Imbalance is just constant. 10 yrs, wow. All the Best.

34 degrees! try an index of 107f or 41c in Florida - lots of rest. I know, not funny.

34 celciuis is  roughly 98 F. And with hi idity proabably feels more like 100 plus! This Is UK.

I'm in Florida to, in Sarasota. Where are you? I know Florida weather isn't only hot but humid and most days in the summer it's like a sauna. I got in my car the other day and the temp on my outside thermometer was 106. I can't wait til the humidity starts to drop again.

I'm in West Palm beach a couple of degrees hotter than you, but I came from north of England so FL knocks me down :-)

I have relatives in England and the temps are a lot cooler than here. I was born here and you would think I would be used to it but I'm not. It seems to be getting hotter every year and I think this has been the hottest summer in a long time. I guess this menopause isn't helping coz I am just warm all the time.

Hi Arria,

I see we both have the same description for our dizziness (constant and not spinny).  Did you ever get a diagnosis?

Hi,

Yes am the same, was warm here in Manchester for the last week or so, and yes feeling weak and tired,  Am a sufferer from Vertigo which makes it really difficult at some times, been like this for 5 years and counting.

Every day is a new day for me

Yes likewise in Surrey.,too hot and humid. Makes everything you have to,do so much harder (And exhausting!) i find the only way to help is rest, drink more fluids, keep head cool with cold, packs.

Hi Dizzyear, You made me go look at old paperwork to see if I ever got a diagnosis.  I see about 6 months after very violent spinning attack (hospital) I got 'hypoactive labyrinth and peripheral vestibulopathy'.  My hearing is good and I do not have migraines,'tho my Dr - otolaryngologist likes to focus on those because he has nothing else! Vestibular neuritis is inflammation of balance nerve - sounds like me.  I asked Dr if I had inflammation but he said there was no way to tell.  It is my personal opinion that my canals are atrophied, aged and cannot come back.  At least 1/2 of us are idiopathic - no know cause.  Keep on researching.

Some of the more recent info for doing your own diagnosis is Tampa Bay Hearing & Balance Center  'Vestibular Neuritis and Viral Labyrinthitis' 8 pages, addresses post mortem info.  Dig in!
