Hello all I have posted before please read my other post if you are interested in my.other symptoms.
So for the past few weeks on top of my other symptoms I have been feeling detached from reality like I'm not here I don't find things funny or I get frustrated really easy. Sometimes I just don't care about anything but then it turns into depression and I get bad feelings. But today I have felt okay and then out of nowhere I started getting this weird feeling I described and I was playing a game but I wouldn't realize it and then I would come back to reality and still not be there fully. Does anyone else get this? Such an odd feeling kinda scary when I stop to think about it. Also my chest/diaphragm area has been heavy like its hard to breathe but only when I think about it.
Anxiety is the worst <.<
Hey PrimalHunter.
Have you read about depersonalisation/derealization? Depersonalization/derealization disorder occurs when you persistently or repeatedly have the feeling that you're observing yourself from outside your body or you have a sense that things around you aren't real, or both. Feelings of depersonalization and derealization can be very disturbing and may feel like you're living in a dream.
It's common in anxiety and can often occur in the middle or after a panic attack. Many people have a passing experience of depersonalization or derealization at some point. But when these feelings keep occurring or never completely go away and interfere with your ability to function, it's considered depersonalization-derealization disorder.
Good day xx
I get that, I think it's derealization. It can be really scary when it hits badly. I had it hit badly about two weeks ago while out with my mom. I went to take the shopping cart back into the store and while walking out, I looked at the door and noticed that it seemed like my head was leaning but it wasn't. Then as I walked towards the car, I felt like I wasn't there and like my brain was slipping away. This is the scariest thing that's ever happened to me.
Do you know any way to lessen it or to help it stop?
Thanks,
Nicole
Yes when I was in my 20s I had all of your symptoms and more. I know it’s a very scary feeling especially when you feel like you’re not here. That is called Depersonilation. It’s when your brain tries to protect you from anxiety and stress so it’s sort of blocks things out. It won’t hurt you.
there are many symptoms of anxiety and stress.
Think about your life and what might be causing you anxiety or stress. Family, school, friends, etc. Anything that is bothering you.
Of course I think everyone should have a visit with their family doctor when they have new symptoms just to get it checked out. I know it’s a terrible feeling when you feel like you can’t breathe right and that is very common with anxiety.
so I told you all of those symptoms started in my 20s and I am now in my 50s and I’m doing well. I learned a few things along the way and one of them is that in order to reduce or eliminate symptoms, you have to relax your mind and brain as much as possible. That’s where the anxiety begins and that leads to symptoms. So the symptoms are not really the problem when it’s related to anxiety, The problem is unmanaged anxiety.
so what has helped me over the years is first of all not taking life too seriously which really increased my anxiety. I learned to enjoy the simple things in life and made sure there was some fun, and laughter in my life every day.
another thing I do every day is listen to audio meditations for anxiety on YouTube. They totally calm down my mind, body and symptoms. There are so many to choose from.
Also I listen to an audio called mindfulness breathing guided meditation 10 minutes. This would be great for you to listen to because it teaches you how to be in control of your anxiety. You can use this anywhere and it really works well. Do things that relax your mind such as the deep breathing, anything that makes you feel happy and relaxed, exercise even just a walk releases good hormones in the brain that help you relax.
there are many people in the world with your same symptoms. And anxiety and depression often go hand-in-hand. Sometimes people don’t even realize they are depressed. One thing that helped me was speaking with a counselor who sees this every day and knows how to help. I do hope you feel better soon
