Hi I am new to this forum I have been posting in the anxiety one but wanted to see if anyone has some advice?!
I have been suffering with dizzyness for quite a while now, it all started with headaches then I'd get really dizzy, I had a ct scan and all was well however after the birth of my second son in April this year I was laying on the sofa I went to get up and I couldn't focus on anything, I was so dizzy it was unreal, I went to emergency docs who said it was labrythitus and prescribed some tablets which didn't really work! Ever since then I have been so dizzy, I have seen ent and they said all is good nothing to worry about but why do I keep feeling like this? I could be sat at home doing nothing and it just comes over me I go all lightheaded and then I start to sweat and panic that I'm going to pass out its horrible, just walking around sometimes I go dizzy and feel all funny I don't know what to do anymore, I've had bloods etc and all normal I just want to know why I feel so terrible all the time x
Hi Emma, I have been through the same thing MRI scans etc. In the end I was diagnosed with Ménière's disease. There are so many variation of this condition, mine was mild but made worse when I was stressed. I saw another specialist who then said I had benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) - In the end I was given Betahistine dihydrochloride 8 mg tablets and they work really well. It may be an idea to go back to the doctor and check if you may have something like this. I wish you all the best - Raff
Thank u for your reply, it's just awful living with this everyday, I have tried so many tablets it's unreal! I'm taking sertraline and propanranol for anxiety so I'm not sure if it's one of them causing the issues? I have tried beta histamine but unfortunately ended up in a&e after taking it as some how managed to have an allergic reaction to it I don't know if it's my headaches causing it either, I just can't put my finger on it, I have been told I am extremely dehydrated which could be the reason also but surly not for nearly 7 months is it possible to feel this way?! Before my son was born I was fine had no anxiety no dizzyness etc I did like I say suffer with headaches but they don't seem to think they are migraines etc, I'm sick of going to docs I've been about 30 times in the last year alone x
Sorry you're suffering with this. Ive had Labyrinthitis before and feel as though it has come back. Go to the link: www.labyrinthitis.org.uk
You'll see the symptoms two women in the UK had....if these symptoms are similar to yours, you'll have to wait it out. You can try vestibular rehab as well. Helped me out tremendously.
hi Emma, dizziness can be so unbearable. mine gradually came on until the end of the week I was so bad I couldn't leave my bed. after many tests mine was diagnosed but it took over a year of physical therapy to get me to the point of feeling normal. after talking to many different people with different diagnosis I have found a few things that help regardless of what causes the dizziness. try not to stress. when you get stressed I'm sure you notice the dizziness get worse. eat healthy, stay well hydrated , stay away from caffienne and get plenty of rest. I realize these all seem so common sense but believe it or not not a lot people abide by these are a normal basis. my daughter used to get anxiety attacks where she couldn't swallow and felt dizzy to the point where she felt like she would pass out but never did. her dr. gave her a depression/anxiety med. sorry I don't know the name of it but I could find out if you want. anyway it has worked awesome for her. good luck.
Ive had Labyrinthitis and have it again....in my 3rd month now. It is very difficult to be suffering so long...i know!! What helped me most was decreasing my anxiety and vestibular rehab. Please give it a try. You've likely had some vestibular damage in one of your ears. Your brain needs to learn to compensate for the mixed signals it is receiving from the good and bad ear. A therapist who is trained in vestibular rehab can teach you the exercises you need to get well.

PS: What other symptoms do you have? Clogged up ear, head pressure, nausea?
I have had flare ups of dizziness, headache, blurrines sand nausea for 6 years. Not one Dr. able to diagnose. Had numerous blood tests, MRI, X-ray, sonograms during last 6 years. Have seen 7 different specialists. However, one Dr. prescribed imipramine and that has helped immensely. It is an anti-depressant and has been around a long time. It seems to work for me. Talk to your doctor perhaps he may try it with you.
Hello....go see a neurologist or a dr that specializes in headache...you may have vestibular migraines.......and no you dont need to get a headache with vestibular migraines......Look it up on computer....Also go get your eyes checked........I hope this helped
I had dizziness and went to alot of Dr. The important thing is to find the Right Dr. to go to. Check to see if there are any otoneurologists in your area or any physical therapists that specialize in Dizziness. What area are you in? I went thrhough so many Dr's. and was finally prescribed Ativan because it caused so much anxiety I couldnt sleep for days. I saw an Otoneurologist and I did physical therpy. I had Vestibular Neuritis and BPPV. In order for the BPPV to go away you have to get the proper maneuver done so the crystals go back into place. Also, could yo have a Vitamin B12 deficancy because that causes dizziness and unbalance almost like your drunk.
Hi emma , I have been very unwell with bppv vertigo , which is what they think it is , its a awlful feeling , it's been 8 weeks now ,, waiting to see ent , my eyes feel so bad with , and of balance , a feeling like I'm moving all the time , I had this once years ago , and in the end it slowly got better , but I really want to know what exactly wrong , I was fine then just woke up with this , been out to day but find it hard like I'm floating around ,
hi.....found a web site don't know if it will help for the UK to find doctores who treat and test vertical heterophia........They also check your eyes etc...testing is a little over an hour and a half....I would plan on being there for at least 2 hours.....specsavers ..........not sure how good it is because I cant use it..........have you gone for vestibular rehab??? Enjoy your grandson this weekend......
Hi Emma,I know how you feel,I've been dizzy and lightheaded for 3 months now,at first I got so bad I was sweating, couldn't breathe and passed out, I was so scared that I made myself worse with anxiety. At times I get so dizzy I feel like I will die or end up in hospital but the best thing to do is try stay calm and it doesn't get any worse,I've had a MRI scan, tests done and I'm healthy, they said I have something called benign positional vertigo,i'm under ent and taking stemital pills that help with the dizziness, its so hard coping with it as I'm scared to go out alone as I have two girls youngest is 3,it's hard work being a mum and being ill.I hope you feel better soon, take care Lisa x
OMG six weeks thats a long time....... tried to send out a link but they are checking it out first to make sure there isnt anything on it that is i guess inappropriate.........Im on migraine pills and as far as I understand it ......anyway the ones I am on take weeks to take affect............
My ent doctor is meant to be the top one,he's away until after Christmas so I have to wait,I have got a few migraine pills left and might be able to get my gp to give me some more,I was also given beta blockers to take as they are meant to get rid of migraines, have you had them before?x
Glad to here you have a good dr......yes i take beta blockers too...I take verapamil, Gabapentin and divalproxex sod er....apparently I am on low dosages......But I dont like taking this stuff and how it lets me feel some days.......My insurance covers like 95% of my doctors visit if i want to get checked for vertical heterophia...........at this point it wont cover glasses if I need them and they are a little expensive depending.........like 400 .....waiting for dr to enroll in my health plan
Thank you for all your replies and advice it's just really getting me down, I have had numerous bloods to check certain things, ct scan, seen a neurologist, private ent specialist, had my eyes checked, had physio, having acupuncture this week, having a heart scan and 24hr monitor Friday, seen a maximillo facial surgeon, had a scan on my face and neck, had an impacted wisdom tooth out, tried so many tablets and still they tell me it's anxiety, maybe to an extent it is but it's just been going on too long with no relief, I've had therapy, I do grind & clench my teeth at night and have tmj but I've had that for years, I'm not sure if it's migraine as I do get a lot of headaches to!! But they have looked into this!? I am waiting to see a neurologist again to see if he can recommend anything and have an app with ent again at the end of December so kinda hoping they refer for an mri it's hard not to think it's something more serious, ent thought it might be vestibular neuritis and gave me some ex to do but it's not really worked. I also get really bad pain/pressure at the back of the left side of my head which only goes when I apply pressure to which is really painful some days x
Hi Rita hope your not too bad today,I started off good and now my eyes feel all weird,im off balance and spinning on and off,I all if a sudden came over extremely tired, have you experienced this?x
