Dizzy!

Happy weekend everyone.  Does anyone else struggle with bouts of dizzyness - am on Estrogel - (1 pump daily), but for the last few months have had dizzy spells on and off!  Have just finished period and just had the vilest week with anxiety, tingling electrical flashes, dizzyness and heavy limbs!!  Vile, vile - just had some more blood tests as am wondering if I am anaemic again!  So bored of it all now??!!!  have had all sorts of tests (including cardiac investigation) as health anxiety kicks in and have been convinced I am not long for this world but everything comes back 'within normal range,'  Does anyone else have these symptoms despite being on bio-identical replacement therapy???

I am on Evorel patches and I still have stiff aching muscles, tingling and headaches. I think I'll give it a little more time and may consider changing Hrt .

Hi kitten64. Need a little more info to try & help answer your question. Do you take the progesterone tablets too as the progesterone part of you hrt? xxx

Hi Loolo43,

My GP suggested that I only take the progesterone on a quarterly basis - Ustrogestan which I took at the end of April vaginally for 12 days??

Hi Kitten64. Thats very odd - never heard of that. How old are you & do you still have your uterus & ovaries? Do you still get periods? Does your doc say you are perimeno, meno, or post meno? (sorry for all the questions but makes a difference to hrt regimen according to my specialist meno gp). xxx

Dizziness definitely is part of Perimenopause/ Menopause! I am in that phase peri/ pre -menopausal and it's worst when I bend over or turn my head quickly! Ugly feeling but it's all due to hormones transitioning!

I get the heavy limbs and foggy head the week after my period. It feels like my brain doesn't keep up with me when I move! Most likely due to anaemia due to heavy blood loss. Even though I continually take iron supplements, my period leaves me feeling very fatigued. And palpitations worse.

Hi Looloo43,

Thank you for your reply.  Am 52, still have all bits intact was having sporadic periods but finally gave in and started on replacement therapy in January this year.  GP not advising where I am on the perimenopausal spectrum but has recently suggested due to symptoms I may be meno??

Thank you for reply Trishann - I agree a very ugly feeling especially when I am driving - I often think should I be as have very 'swimmy' head feeling!

I agree Maisie05 - it's a vicious circle as the more you bleed the more anaemic you become and then you bleed more! I took a 3 month course of iron and did actually feel a little better think it now maybe the case again - blood results at the end of the week so maybe can then take another course of iron but then that cocks up digestion and IBS flares up - nightmare!!

Hi kitten. I would talk to your gp about taking progesterone part of hrt 200mg nightly days 15-26 of avery 28day cycle & see if the that improves things. This is the normal cycle/dose of progesterone for ladies that still have a uterus, plus you have to "oppose" the estrogen you are taking with progesterone. (this is all according to my specialist meno gp & info leaflets with the estrogel & utrogestan medications) I have never heard of taking progesterone quarterly! xx

Thanks Looloo43 sounds like a plan - are yoiuo in the UK and did yiur GP refer you to specialist?

Oops apologies for mis-spelling in haste!

Hi Kitten. You would obviously have to talk to your gp about this though. I am in UK, my gp has been on all the menopause & hrt courses, so is well "gen'd up" on this subject; no specialist involved as my gp is superb. I've never read or heard of anyone taking progesterone quarterly as part of hrt. xx
