Dla, change in circumstances

Hi, I have been in reciept of dla for my son who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes for last 6 years.. My husband and I have split up and he stays at his 3 nights a week. Do I need to let Dla know? I am his primary carer.

I would say this wasa change of circumstances so yes you should let them know.

Sarah

Thanks, will it change his dla I in anyway?

Hi Leona,

Any changes that would affect his DLA, especially the Care Component need to be reported to the DWP. They make affect how much you are entitled to, in which case they will ask you for dates when the changes took place.

Regards,

Les.

Not sure.

The thing is you should tell them anyway.

Otherwise later on they may find out and ask why you did not tell them

This would be more likely to affect his dla than if you were straight with them from the beginning.

I know it is time consuming and annoying now but that is how it is.

Good luck with all this. All the best

Sarah

Just rang them up, told them that he stayed at his dad's 3 nights a week but his care hasn't changed in any way.. As long as I'm primary carer it doesn't change.

Thanks

Great news. I would ge tthem to confirm it in writing though

Sarah
