I am on indefinite DLA and due to be moved over to PIP.. When you get your forms to fill out for PIP and waiting assessment. Does your DLA payments stop altogether and you recieve nothing until your accepted for PIP or do you still get paid until the final decision about PIP?
Provided that you follow the time limits and do as you are told by the DWP, your payments will continue until when you hear what the PIP decision is.
You are entitled to a form PIP1 to make a written application if you feel that using the telephone is not for you to start the claim off. However be warned, if you go down the written application route, the DWP have a habit of 'losing or forgetting' your request resulting in the immediate closure of your DLA claim as well as losing the right to transfer to PIP whilst continuing to get the DLA payments.
That's where I ended up - the DWP denied receiving the two letters I sent asking for the PIP1.

you will get an invitation to apply for pip and then you ring them first and then they will send the form out to you.
Just to clarify. To get the ball rolling in the transfer you have either to telephone the DWP and give them information they demand or you can ask for a PIP1 form which is a lot more comprehensive and gives you more options regarding the DWP being asked to look at evidence they hold from previous benefit claims.
If and when you pass that test you will be sent a form PIP 2 form which demands a lot more information about your difficulties, names and and addresses of all of the people that know about your difficulties (but the DWP very rarely get in contact with these people).
It is the first part that you have the option to telephone or fill a form in - PIP1
The second part - PIP2 must be done in writing and posted off to the DWP - (however should the DWP lose that form then you are back to the scenario of having the DLA award cancelled etc because they would argue that you never sent the form PIP2 back to them in the first place!!)
Now at that point it is for you to prove that on the balance of probabilities that is was returned AND that the DWP had lost it.

I got my pip decision through on Friday and as it took quite a while from the inital phone call - filling out the forms - face to face asse ment and then 7 weeks from assessment until I got my award I continued to get my Dla and my dla now stops on the 14th of September and will then transfer to pip payments as they cannot start paying you pip till 4 weeks after decision but you continue to get dla throughout the whole time. Hope this helps!

Yeah I just got my award and it stops on the 6th September and PIP starts 28th .
I think if you are not successful with an award you dla finishes a month after decision letter.
Also it took 4 months for the whole process from phone call to award.
No, your DLA payments will carry on as normal until you have a decision on PIP. They will remain so until four weeks after the decision and then will change to whatever PIP award you get. If you get a higher award of PIP than you had under DLA, the increase will be backdated to the date of your application.
So you send it by registered post and keep the receipt. If you have Internet access, you can then check with Royal Mail to make sure they have received a signature. All PIP applications are sent to mail handling centres for distribution to DWP, so I would advise everybody to get secure and track able proof of posting with a signature required.
Has this been changed? I was under the impression that if you were on DLA you stayed on DLA for 4 weeks after the decision is made and then transferred to PIP. I've read a lot of discussions about it being unfair for DLA claimants who get a higher PIP award to miss out on the increase because it's not backdated to the date of application.
No it hasn't changed you don't get it backdated if you're on DLA
They can not award you PIP until a month after the decision

Hi Pam, I agree entirely especially with what happened to me. But the claimant shouldn't have to go to such an expense.
At one time (OK years ago!) all official government mail sent back in a prepaid envelope bearing OHMS ALWAYS found it's way to the desk of the officer responsible for your case.
Now it seems that the government are doing everything on the cheap and if it goes missing - it is up to the claimant to prove that on the balance of probabilities it was correctly addressed and the right value stamp was put on it.
Talk about refusing to acknowledge responsibilty and if anything goes wrong with the system blame the claimant.
Your dla will Continue until the decision.. If they decide you are not entitled to pip.. They will pay your dla for four weeks after your decision so basically you will receive one last payment. As for transfer I've no idea as mine is currently under mandatory reconsideration.

Yep, I agree. They tell you that proof of postage is not proof of receipt - in other words if it goes missing and you have only obtained the basic proof of posting certificate instead of a tracked service, they will not admit receipt. Seems to be the way of the world. Everything is about money and statistics - the fact that these are living, breathing people and there are consequences to these actions seems be the last consideration.
