Do Antidepressants cause a feeling of pressure around eyes and sinus/face area? in desperate need :(

I always seem to have this but first time i started using SSRIs prior i had my sinuses operated so i was feeling the pressure just a little not so much of being a burden and about 1 year ago while i was on escitalopram i started getting these intense headaches which only go away if i use a benzo but of course i do not want to use those everyday so i wanted to ask if also someone else feels pressure while on ADs around sinus areas mostly and sometimes even top of the head! I am considering to actually operate them again to see if this horrible headache pressure goes away! THANK YOU ALL!

if you are depressed, and take anti depressants, one of the first stages of recovery, is being brought out of depression, into increased anxiety. its anxiety thats causing your symptoms. anxiety manifests itself in many ways. for you its headaches and sinuses, for me, its tension in my gums and soft palate. for others it could be in the stomach, any where really. they are all increases in muscle tension, as a result of elevated anxiety. hopefully, if you are on the right med and dose, the anxiety slowly and gradually dissapears. however, its common to get stuck in the anxious, or easily made anxious stage, which you could regard as a partial recovery. either you need a new med or dose, to increase your recovery, or you need lifestyle changes, to lower your anxiety yourself. meds can only do so much. i was stuck in the partial recovery stage for years. eventually, my anti dep stopped working, i started on a new, more heavy duty one, combined with another anti dep. this has brought about a much better recovery. i think my meds are now optimised, but i still get anxiety and tension issues. so am now concentrating on relaxation techniques and self help ito improve further. i put a lot of effort i to getting the meds im on, with lots of research. i think people need to do this, rather than just relying on their pysc or dr. youll never get rid of anxiety completely, but its a combination of the right meds and self help, that will get you the best recovery for you.

hello nigel ,

thank you so much for your answer! you def have a point and it makes a lot of sense. i have been switched to mirtazapine ( was previously on lexapro and long before on fluoxetine) the thing is the headache seems to persist and it makes me very desperate to find an answer on how to possibly resolve them! i will see if this new med will react different in a while even though i have lost a bit of hope since last time around when the headaches started i waited for 4-5 months and they never went away maybe thats when i should have upped my dose and not fight it off with benzos! nonetheless if u do not mind to let me know what are u on now? i know we are all different and have different issues etc but would be good to know since u said u have somehow under control!

best,
