Do I have anxiety?

hi, I am new to this.... I think lately I have been suffering with some anxiety. I think has been there for a while however I am now feeling physical side affects. I get a lot of tension headaches and lately a tightening in my chest and dull aches. Is this normal? Is this a sympton of anxiety? It comes and goes but lately it has been more frequent. How do you deal with it? Should I see someone?

hi
it sounds like anxiety but to be sure id get it checked at the docs to rule out any issues.

i think everyones symptoms are different i suffer with chest and heart issues mainly. i get tension headaches and dizzyness too but mainly just what i assume is adreneline surges which causes my heart to flip flop in my chest i also get dull aches and tightness.

ive had mine checked by a 5 day ecg and an echocardiagram and mine came back fine but it still scares me when they come, i was ok for last two months but since stoping work for xmas ive been having them bad again.
ive been running to help symptoms which really does help.

take deep long breaths and get a good mindful app on your phone even the 5 minute anxiety relief sessions help

hi Grace. There are hundreds of symptoms of anxiety but one thing to always remember is that when you get symptoms related to anxiety, they are not harmful. I know how weird they can feel and sometimes scary but that’s all they can do. I’ve had anxiety my whole life and probably every symptom you can get but it’s really not the symptom that’s the problem. The problem is unmanaged anxiety that actually causes the symptoms.
so think if there’s anything in your life that may be causing anxiety. It could be related to school, work, family, relationships, etc. 1 If so, I do recommend speaking with a counselor because they see this every day with their patients and anxiety is the number one reason that people see a counselor. So they definitely can help!
2. i also suggest that you take care of your health. That way your immune system is strong and you can fight off anxiety and stressful situations better. Eat healthy, get some exercise, there are some great meditations on YouTube for relaxation, anxiety, mindfulness breathing exercises, etc. sometimes I do them during the day and I listen to them every evening when laying down to sleep.
3. Try not to overthink things because that makes anxiety worse. Mental attitude is very important in combating anxiety! Think positive thoughts.
4. get a physical check up with your doctor at least once a year. If you haven’t had one in a while, contact your doctor. You might be able to start out with a virtual appointment and then when things get better out there in the world, you could go to the office.
5. last but not least, put a smile on your face, do things that make you relax, laugh and smile! There’s no better medicine for an anxious mind! try not to take life too seriously. I hope you feel better soon. Everythingis going to be OK.

Dear Grace
Good idea to get checked out by your doctor just for reassurance but this sounds like classic anxiety symptoms. Nothing to worry about. It can feel very uncomfortable but it can’t do you any harm. Don’t google your symptoms.
The way to deal with anxiety is counter-intuitive. You need to accept and allow all these physical sensations and not fight them or try to fix them. That tends to make it worse. Relax into these sensations. After all, they are just funny feelings in your body and won’t do you any harm. The more you can relax into them the more the anxiety will slowly go away. It’s easier said than done, I know, but it does work. Even having the intention to do so will help. You will definitely be okay. Nothing bad is going to happen to you. Your mind might start coming up with catastrophic thoughts but just try to ignore them. They are not true. You will be fine. Try not to obsess over it and occupy your mind with something else if you can. It will go away. Be patient and give it time. All the best xxx
