Hi,
I've been feeling a little out of charactor for the last couple of years. The symtoms are getting worse. They include:
Excess sweating, mainly face and neck
Weight gain and stretch marks
Insomnia (1hr sleep a night -arrrghhh!!)
Hair thinning (I'm a girl and I'm balding like a man!)
Dry skin
Bruising
Low libido (non-existant!!)
Swollen left tonsil
Anxiety
Frequent upset tummy.
I've been tested for underactive thyroid. That's not it.
I've been tested for excessive testosterone, that's not a problem either.
I've been taken off microgynon and put on cilest
I'm currently on sertraline.
I've been to the doctors and I'm fed up of annoying them but I'm sure something isn't quite right. Please please help. Even if it's to rule things out.
Hi, Jennifer. My sister also having same problem like you. I'm as her sister also upset with her progress. For your case, why not you ask physician referred your case to Hospital University. Before that, you also can request for test to determine that you are having cushing syndrome or not?
Hi Jennifer , I have recently been diagnosed with cs .. I had never heard of the disease sorry to say but my first ct scan mid stomach showed a tumour / mass on my adrenal gland .. The second ct scan on my head confirmed what my Prof thought i had ... In my opinion i would strongly suggest a ct scan it will confirm your thoughts so at least you know where you stand .
Good Luck X
Hello, it sounds like it could be Cushings. The first step would be to ask your GP to test your Cortisol level. Do you have a red face, or hypertension? I hope you get a diagnosis soon. I also had an adrenal adenoma and am now recovering.
Make your lazy Doctor test you for all the Thyroid Hormones.Rule this out. The TSH is not accurate. Dont trust them on that alone.
Could he taking the ACHT test
It is more common in women. The female to male incidence is about 5:1 for Cushing’s syndrome due to an adrenal or pituitary tumor.
Hi Jennifer,
Yes i agree with one of the other ladies. A CT Scan would definately confirm CS diagnosis. In my case a 24hr urine sample was the first step for me followed by a 48hr Dextamethasone test. I am newly diagnosed myself to this horrible illness. Reading your symptoms i truly sympathise with you. I am currently waiting on an appointment now with my consultant after only this week being told what side Adrenal Gland its on and the actual size it is. Its a very long drawn out process which is very frustrating especially when all you want are these symptoms to disappear!
i hope you find your answers soon x
