I just joined today, and this is my first comment. I have not been diagnosed with anything yet but i suspect possible Fibromyalgia.
I have had IBS for about 8 years (brother has Chrons, mother and uncle IBS) and had investigations which amounted to nothing. since Jan this year a pain in my side has increased, i now have it under my breast and all along my upper back and upper left flank. Pain is worse after eating, however it is constantly there, like a dull ache with sharp points at times.
I am taking Gabapentin 900mg per day, GP is starting me on Lansoprazole today, I take Setraline for anxiety and depression plus Propanolol. GP has said if Lansoprazole doesnt work he will refer me to Gastro specialist. And Cocodamol when needed.
i just feel sore all the time, not great. No energy, putting on weight due to inactivity at the heaviest i have ever been, not eating meals really just snacking throughout the day. Back sore, stomach sore - I work in an office so sit down all day. When I am at home cleaning and keeping busy I am okay, it is the minute I stop I feel rotten, fluey like symptoms.... I could go on and on.
GP said today that he has exhausted all options, I have not mentioned Fibro to him as I feel that I will not be taken seriously enough. I don't know what to do. Any advice would be much appreciated xx
Hi drs like to rule out all other conditions that it could before refering you to see a rehumatologist. it took me 10 years to get a diagnoses and many many tests. I agree with Bee I would mention it to your gp and see what he says say you cant go on as you are see if he will refer you to see a reumatologist as it they who diagnose fibro. if your gp wount listen as many dont see if you are able to see another gp keep trying and pushing until you get a referal thats what all of us on here have had to do, I know its not easy. youve got us ladies to talk to so dont feel your on your own. take care
Hi Katmaha, I have to say I'm in agreement with the other two comments. You really need to mention it to you GP. A rheumatologist is really the only one who can diagnose fibro, but it's a diagnosis of exclusion of all other conditions. This means it can take a long time to get diagnosed, which is why the sooner you can be referred the better
Hi katmaha I was treated for ibs for 7 years I also was getting similar bad pain in the right side of my stomache and across my lower back when I go to the toilet and wipe myself I noticed there was mucus on the tissue then I had a bleed from my back passage...I was sent for an endoscopy and was diagnosed with chrons / colitis disease 15 years ago I take anti inflammatory tablets for this...have you told gp your brother has chrons as I was told it can be hereditary in siblings...hope you get sorted soon
I agree with shirl21730 I would tell your gp that your brother has chrons. My gp knows my family history, has it helps them to help you. eg their is bowel cancer in my family, I was having bleeding from the back passage, because of my familys history to cancer, I was refered to a specilist who specialises in that area. He sent me for a colonoscopy, thankfully that came back ok. so its importand that your gp has your family history take care xx
I have a GP,appointment on Tuesday. I am off work today for first time in about 10 weeks. As soon as I eat I feel fluey, pains in legs, shoulders, stomach so last night after tea I was in bed by 7pm. Slept until 7:45am this morning, very stiff, shaky, hands stiff, feel rotten. I am low on energy, did some cleaning there now I feel so tired I want to sleep. The sun is blazing here in Scotland which never happens, however I do not have the energy to get showered and dressed and go outside. I just don't know what to do.
GP is fully aware of my family history with bowel/chrons. Spoke with my brother he thinks my symptoms are like his. Not being taken seriously at all, hopefully get some help soon.
rest up today is what I would do I have had flu like symptoms they come and go they are another fibro symptom if all you want to do is sleep then personally speaking that is what I would do. listen to what your body is telling you. my body soon lets me know when it had enough and wants to rest.good luck with the dr on tuesday hope prey you do get some where take care gentle hug
If you have a wheat bag or hotwater bottle put that on your shoulder and see if that will help you.if your hotwater hasnt a cover on it wrap a towel around it the heat still comes through I would go to bed and rest take some pain killers. gentle hug coming to you
