Do I have mild Balanitis?

Hi All - I’ve had a red/inflamed penis head for a couple of years now. My foreskin is tight when erect, which I think means I have mild phimosis (of which balanitis is often connected to).

Symptoms include - slight odour, red/inflamed, sore to touch, a bit of white/cream smegma build up around the head. Because I am not sexually active, it cannot be an STI and it is for that reason I have never thought much of it - I often rinse it in the shower, but have never really thought of going to the doctor, because it doesn’t really hurt that much.

From what I’ve researched it looks like fungal Balanitis. Can this be fixed with over the counter 1% Clotrimazole Canesten Cream? If so, I would like to try this first and then go to the doctor, if it doesn’t.

Sam,

With all due respect: why would you waste your time with something over the counter and not consult a medical professional.  This is an important part of your body as well as identity.  It also has a functional purpose.  Why  not go to a professional and hopefully make this condition history in a short time.

I wish you well and hope you make the progress you deserve.

My best,

Dave L

Sam i agree with dave.

You can end up with serious long term problem if you dont get correct dignoses.

Wish you luck with treatment

I agree you should see a doctor but don't let them talk you into a circumcision without doing your research. You can likely treat any infection with medication and you can treat the tight foreskin with stretching combined with a setroid cream. Also make sure you are washing your underwear, bedding, and other clothing regularly and in hot water to kill and get rid of any fungus that may be perpetuating the problem. Rinsing in the show daily should be enough once you get the problem is under control.
