Do I have Parkinson's

I was asked to the hospital to have an MRI scan, when the results came through I received a letter from the consultant which was copied to my GP. It was obviously for a medical expert and I could make neither head nor tale of it. So I made an appointment with the GP. She told me that the letter said I had had a series of mini-strokes.

I am not sure about this, I have read quite a lot about Parkinson's over these past few months, and I seem to display all the symptoms. My hand has a permanent tremor, I suffer from permanent constipation, I ache a lot in different parts of the body, I sweat heavily at night when I am asleep (although this could be due to my diabetes). The only thing I don't have is a shuffling gait, at least I don't think so, maybe someone watching me walk may think otherwise!

What should I do?

I would ask to see a neurologist if you haven't already.

Richard, maybe you should see a Neurologist who specializes in Parkinsons and then at least your mind could be at ease.    In Parkinsons, the MRI of the brain will show that cells have died and you are not getting the necessary amount of dopamine that the body needs.  Just a suggestion.

If I were you, I would ask my GP to refer me to a Neurologist.  Good luck.  It is always a relief to know what a problem is - even if it can not be cured.
