So 11 days ago (May 25th) I was bit by a 1 year old German Shepherd pretty good in the foot, the dog was my girlfriends, friends dog. I told him about it and he said he's all caught up on his shots. 2 days After that my foot looked bad so I went to ER room and they said it was infected so they gave me antibiotics for it. The cops were involved because all dog bites have to be reported, and the cops said they would call his vet to make sure they had given his dog his rabies shot.
Fast forward to now. I have yet to hear from the police, left them two messages today and no response. I called the vet myself and they said they can't give information to me since I'm not his owner.. which is ridiculous.. and now I feel nauseous, my throat feels sore, and I have diarrhea, which I've read are all signs of starting rabies. I'm a huge health anxiety freak and it's scaring the hell out of me because after symptoms start, they say the fatality rate is 99%.
Sorry to hear that you are going through this, unless the the dog is showing signs of rabies I don't think you have it, it's possible you may be fighting an infection, your best bet is to go to your doctor and tell him/her your symptoms, as far as the police report, I would just go to the station and ask to speak to the officer or the police Chief to find out what is going on, I hope you start feeling better soon.
Are you sure the sensations aren't because of your anxiety rather than the bite?
If the dog is up to date on injections, don't worry about it. I got into a bit of a fight years ago, anyway the guys tooth sank into my knuckle (don't ask how), and it got infected. It's probably just some germs from the dogs teeth, nothing a course of ant biotics cant fix.
If the dog had rabies, they would contact you asap. You don't have rabies, just an infection and anxiety. But a wound is a wound, keep it clean, If it gets red around the site, and is hot to the touch, or \has pus, call the doctor. Some people get diarrhrea from antibiotics.
