Do I need a prescription for topical steroid cream?

I've got a fairly mild case of phimosis and i am too embarassed to go to a GP and get a perscription. Do you think that i can just find some steroid cream at a local pharmacy? and any recommendations for particular cream?

thanks

If you do have mild you are likely to be able to do the stretches without the steroid. In terms of seeing a GP, you should never be embarrassed about seeing a GP, yes it is natural to feel this way, but once you understand that they are looking at people’s genitals so regularly, that by the end of the week they probably have no recollection of what a particularly patient’s actually looked like. Essentially, most humans are born in two types, male and female with genitalia that basically looks very alike. Health is the important factor, as with any health issue, if it is important to you, get to the GP and get it sorted.
One very useful source of information for you can be found if you use the following search terms:
.

  • A Phimosis Journey - One man’s journey through pinhole phimosis - Guide to Treating Phimosis
    .
… you need to do the search as we are unable to post actual web page addresses on here to external sites.
If you want to try at a pharmacy I would speak to a pharmacist and ask: ‘I have a tight skin issue is there a mild steroid you would recommend?’ - most would get the idea your were talking about your genitals but may not want to use the word “penis”, “foreskin” or “phimosis” in front of everybody else …

thanks, i really appreciate it
