do my symptoms sound like MS?

Hi all

I went to the doctor a few weeks back for blurred vision and hand weakness and while I was there he phoned a neurologist who said they wanted to see me the same week so I have been to see him and after a examination he has said I doesn't think it is migraine causing my symptoms that I have had 4 times over 3 years (this time being the worst) i am booked in for an mri in 2 weeks as he thinks inflammation spots on the brain? Is that what ms is? I have blurred vision, weakness, a lower left side lip numbness, frequent urination (running to get there & sometimes peeing myself), twitching all over that feels like a baby kicking from the inside but all over my body and tingling up my back.do my symptoms sound like ms? I am really worried and dont understand what inflammation spots on the brain would be (if it is that) sorry for a long post and thank you in advance for any replies.

I have been referred to a neurologist. I've been having a numbness/tingling in my right side of my face, arm and leg on and off for 18 months. My GP said it was a migraine. I'm on medication but it hasn't really helped.

MS is inflammation on parts of the brain, but I don't know lots of details about it sorry.

Good luck x

Thank you for replying. I am really stressed out with it all and the not knowing! I know i am really lucky at how fast i am being seen as my doctors appointment was the 9th march and seen the neurologist the following week and my mri is booked for Sunday 12th April then a follow up appointment is booked for 27th april for the results so i really need to relax as it could worse.

Hope you get seen soon and good luck also x

I hope everything goes well, will keep my fingers crossed for you. A lot of people on here say MS isn't fatal, some people don't get it as bad as others. I bet I am waiting months to see them!x

Let me know how you get on, do you mind me asking how old you are?

Thanks. Yeah same for you! I hope you don't wait too long as there is nothing worse x

Yes sure i will update. No course I dont mind, I am 27 x

I'm 25, my doctor thinks I'm crazy I admit I do have health anxiety but I just have a feeling something isn't right. I hope everything turns out well for you, we are too young for all this it's not fair.

Hi,

There are very small electrical pathways that are covered with a myelin sheath (like an electrical cord). In MS the myelin sheath gets inflamed (most likely from the immune system) and causes the electrical pathways to short out which can cause any number of difficulties. In the beginning stages the inflammation is usually repaired after about two weeks and this is called a "relapse" in relapsing remitting MS. You should get better on your own but the areas of inflammation will show on the MRI. Most MS drugs suppress your immune system so that it does not cause the inflammation or at least less inflammation. MS is a chronic disease so IF you have it you are likely in for the long haul. Good luck.

Your symptoms sound very MS-like, but a full blood work along with a brain MRI and lumbar puncture will be big indicators of it. Hope you get answers and some help

I suffer from GAD too which started 07/08 after i hemmoriaged but i didn't think it was anything other than migraine this time until my doctor referred me. I wasn't too worried until i took to google which is never a good idea :-/ yes we are young and I also have 3 kiddies age 9, 5 & 3 and these symptoms are making it hard to care for them sometimes as my partner works all hours so I have house to run, school run and nursery run!

Keep us posted on how you get on too x

Hi thank you for the information.do you have ms? Dont you know anything else that could cause inflammation?

Thank you. I had bloods done (not had results) mri booked and he hasn't mentioned lumber but I did have one 3 years ago when I first lost my sight and it was fine.
