I seem to be in a pattern of getting really bad anxiety mainly in the evenings when it gets dark & when I get really anxious I feel like I cant swallow, it takes me about 5-10 tries before I can. I know it's anxiety and I'm basically doing it because I'm overthinking it but it still freaks me out because for a few seconds I panic & get an adrenaline rush because I feel like I might stop breathing even though I can breath, just not swallow.
being unable to swallow is very common with anxiety. It’s nothing that’s going to hurt you it just feels kind of scary sometimes.
even though you feel like you can breathe, Learning proper breathing when you have anxiety will calm everything down. There are some great breathing meditations on YouTube. They get you in better control of the anxiety and the symptoms which includes being unable to swallow. Once you learn how to manage the anxiety better, you won’t have that feeling anymore.
also, when I get anxiety at night time I listen to relaxing meditations for anxiety. They are on YouTube. some of the really good ones are narrated by the honest guys, Lauren Ostrowski and many others.
I like to listen to these because they distract my mind from anxiety, fears and worries.
you are going to be OK! Just relax your mind as much as you can and practice those long slow deep breathing meditations.
