this way???

I believe it’s because we are focused on our automated processes when anxiety is high. I am sure there is a better way to say it, but do you feel that way when distracted? you probably wont notice when distracted. It’s common when chronic stress is affecting the body.

I ABSOLUTELY get like that. Sometimes it is my only symptom, and it’s very confusing because I don’t even feel the anxiety, I’m just short of breath, and it goes away as I calm down and try to distract myself (which is not a quick process and often takes hours). I’m someone who suffers from asthma, and comparatively it can almost feel like an asthma attack. Except it’s not one, no matter how real it feels. This is definitely common in people who suffer from anxiety. Drinking ice cold water can help incrementally, as it triggers something called the dive reflex. Just know that this is normal.

If this occurs while talking to someone it is usually associated with a speech disorder. Consult a speech therapist.
