Doctor's Visit

Good Afternoon All As some of you know I went to see my Urologist today. I thought it was going to be a quick in and out visit with him. I was there for 1 1/2 hours. He wanted to explain everything that he felt I needed to know. First of all he told me from my urine sample that there was some white blood cells. He said that it may be the ending of the infection. But he said to be safe he order me something don't know what but when I get the call I will go get it ( Just got done with 2 weeks of Ciprofloxacin ) Then he ask me how was by diabetes which was strange.I told him I guess it was fine ( I really have not been watching it since I lost the weight. Stopped taking my pills ) The nurse came in and pricked my finger. It turned out to be 156. Which is high. Then he told me my urine very very cloudy and it was.. I know when I set it on the dray You could see the urine and all this white milky stuff on the bottom. I look on the internet and it said that I could be dehydrated but I drink 6 to 8 bottle of water a day. He they told me that I have partial retro ejaculation. I know I had a low volume but I just thought it was from getting older. It is from my diabetes. So now I have to watch what I eat and no more sweets. I have to get my sugar back under control or I could lose my ejaculation. Been a diabetic for 15 years It just seamed like one problem after another. I have another problem which I e-mailed him about My orgasm have always be intense but over the last month or so They have been painful. When I have a orgasm my testicles get sucked up inside and the scrotum goes flat. They I have to go looking and get everything back to normal but after I'm very uncomfortable for a few hours. My doctor feel that it all has to do with the pelvic floor and there muscles. He wants me to go for Pelvic Floor Rehab. I will call on Monday. He also said that the only other way to stop that is to ware a ring on the scrotum. The last thing. Thank God. This has to do with my PSA and the DRE he did. He did the DRE today and said that the prostate did not feel right he said it felt lopsided. Checked twice. ( I did tell him that I feel like I'm sitting on a ball sometime . It could be the infection ) He also said that that my PSA went up again. Not much but the last 3 have been going up and down. These were before 0.4 and 0.7. The last 3 I have had over the last year were 2.2.....1.3......3.8. He said that he know they are not high but he does not want to take a chance. I have to go back and see him in 4 months. He want to run some test and if the PSA goes up and the DRE is the same. He said that we are going to have to sit down and have a long talk. I know what he is thinking but I don't want to think about it right now. Maybe in 4 month's all will be fine. Sorry this was so long but I had a very long day. This was a lot to hear. Good health to all. And please take care of yourself............God Bless...Ken

Ken, Sorry to hear what you are going through. Get the diabetes under control, that is probably the most important thing to worry about right now. Take care! Tim

Wow, you have gone through a lot. Hope it all works out for you Ken!

probably just the infection. hope all goes well.

The RE is probably from the Vesicare you are taking. It relaxes the bladder neck.

Thank you

Yes got my meter out and my pills going to have to watch and get it under control. Just got back for the store got my antibiotics He gave me this time Bactrim 800-160 for a week.

Yes got to start one thing at a time.....

Ken

Thanks buddy

It was a lot to hear. One thing at a time

Ken

Thanks

Lets hope.....Ken

Hank

Going to have to read up on it.

I really never notice it because I never missed anything Sometime you can see some string like stuff But today it was really bad.

Going to have to watch more and get things under control

Thank you.......Ken

Sorry to hear about what you are going through. It seems that biofilm D-fence (misspelled to avoid moderation) has helped quite a few people with stubborn UTIs and with Lyme disease. If you don't know about biofilms, you can find a fair amount of information on the internet. Amazon has a lot of reviews about the product I mentioned, but note that some people have had stomach issues. I've taken it myself to avoid UTIs and while I can't prove it was the only cause, my bladder does seem to be able to hold more urine now. Check the company's website as I believe you need to be taking antimicrobials when taking the product (it helps the antibiotics/antivirals get to the bugs which are sealed off by the biofilms). Anyway, I am not a doctor so keep that in mind. Best of luck.

Hi mate im sorry to hear that you are having problems again . I didnt know you were diabetic , I am too . Yes 156 is too high but its your long term sugars that count rather than a one off reading . You should be having regular Hb1c blood tests which measure your average glucose over a 3 month period . If you are having trouble controlling your diabetes have a look at the Libre Freestyle monitor . ive got one and its a real game changer . Sticks to your arm , very small size of a coin, and monitors your blood glucose 24/7. Im sure you already know but high sugars contribute to infection and an infection will push your glucose higher . vicious circle! you have also mentioned in the past that you have suffered from prostatitis , again, me too . That will cause an increase in PsA and affect a DRE . Keep an eye on things mate and get your sugars under control . all the best to you Darren

Hi Ken:

Get better. As for Bactrim, I never got any relief from it when treating a few UTI episodes this past year. Cipro was the only thing that worked for me. Watch it close and do not wait too long. I could feel relief from Cipro within 24-hours. I waited 72-hours with Bactrim and ran back to the uro and demanded Cipro. Perhaps I am the exception when it comes to Bactrim, but urologists sure push it.

Dave

Good evening

Thank you going to try to take care of things one at a time. I will look into it and see what up.

Never know. Thanks again......Ken

Darren

Thank you for your thoughts. Yes been a diabetic for 15 years was on Metformin 2000 mg for 10 years. I was glad to get off that. I was slways between 60 to 80.I'm going to start taking my pill again. I stopped taking it because my GP said I was good. Ploglitazone 30 mg once a day. Just put them with my other pills.

I will be seeing him the first part of February we be going for blood work. He is most likely going to yell at me. Will talk to him about the free style monitor. How long does it last and how often do you have to change it.

I am hoping that it is just the infection I really don't want to have more test and another biopsy of the prostate. Had one years ago.

Thanks again.......Ken

Hi Ken, Sorry to hear about your doctor's visit today. I hope it all works out ok for you. When you get your PSA measured be sure to ask that they also measure your FREE PSA at the same time. This number is an important indicator of possible prostate cancer and should be greater than 18%. Also a prostate ultrasound might be useful to determine your prostate size right now. It may be growing which could account for your rising PSA though infections is also a likely cause. If your doctor is worried about cancer do not let him do a blind needle biopsy on you. Instead insist on a multi-parametric MRI with dynamic contrast. This will show any lesions on the prostate that could be targets later on for a possible biopsy. Hope all turns out ok for you. Any word from Jimjames? Take care Howard

Dave

I have taking both. Just got done with Cipro was on for 14 days after I passed some blood. I do not have a problem with itBut I did mention to my doctor that I had tendonitis 9 years ago. That was before all the problems.

Well see what happens. Took the first one at 7 PM

Thanks again............Ken

Good Evening Howard.

How are you doing.

Yes that was a long appointment.I have to have another PSA done for April I will e-mail my doctor and ask to do the Free PSA to. Just looked at the script and all it said is PSA total. Yes would save a lot of time and trouble.

Maybe the MRI with the dynamic contrast will be better. Had the needle one done 15 years ago. 12 needles. Had every test . Even had a ultrasound up the butt. I think that's what it was. I know the technician said to laid on my side I was was going to some pressure. Thrilling.

About Jim I sent him another PM message about 2 or 3 weeks ago but have not heard anything. Hope his ok.

Thanks again.Ken

Hey Kenneth, Thanks for sharing that appointment with urologist. But It sounds like you're in control of some of the issues with diet, hydration, and the pelvic exercises. Anywhere everyday present you helping me in the past when is going through those prostate issues. There's no one like you on this site. Thanks again

Hi mate The freestyle Libre works either by the reader or you can use a smart phone with an App . A small senser attaches to your arm and this lasts 14 days ( I heard it may be 10 days in the US) . no more finger prick tests . you just swipe with your phone and it gives your blood glucose reading . Im type 1 so if its a bit high i just give myself more insulin . it gives you 24/7 info on exactly what your glucose has been doing and by looking at all the graphs etc you can see where you are going wrong . its fantastic for a type 1 but you will have to check how useful it is for type 2. 60- 80 is still too high Ken . Concentrate on getting your glucose down as high glucose affects every part of you ( im sure you know all this ) let us all know how you get on, it will be an infection Ken , stay positive , and all the best . Darren

Darren

Thank you. I will talk with my GP when I see him. Have to get this under control. I guess you can't just let anything go

Before I see him going to read up on what they say about the Freestyle Libre Thank you for the information.

Thanks again............Ken

In the states it is 14 days to
