For a few weeks I've been feeling weird sensations from the knee down in both of my legs along with twitches which happen in my arms and stomach too. I can still feel sensations in my legs so it isn't numb? Can anxiety cause these long term feelings of ache and numbness. I don't even feel anxious but doctors previously just say its anxiety. I have been taking Citalopram 20mg for about 3 months.
yes anxiety can absolutely cause those symptoms. I am middle-age now and in my 20s I had sudden symptoms like yours plus others. They are all from anxiety and stress. The main thing to do is try to relax your mind as much as possible. Get counseling if you have anxiety about something in your life, eat healthy , Get exercise and try not to take life too seriously. It’s not worth having bad health over that.
But any anxiety symptoms cannot hurt you even though they feel weird and scary sometimes. I am living proof. Just make sure you get your physical exam by your doctor at least once a year .
There are also some great short meditations on YouTube for anxiety, panic, sleep, etc. they really are very relaxing and reduce my symptoms or make them go away.
Try not to get stressed about the symptoms because then they get worse. It’s not the symptoms that are the problem it’s the underlying cause of the anxiety that causes the symptoms.
hang in there you’ll be OK! ![]()
