Hi everyone , i smoke . Do any of you ? Did you quit ? If so , what were /are the effects for you ?
i used to, until i had to watch my pop die of emphysema. Just awful, i quit cold turkey. As did my mum who smoked from a teen all the way to her mid 40s when she quit. Put on a bit of weight lol but chewing gum helps to chew when you want to go for a smoke. Its the habit along with the addiction thats hard to break.
hi Vicky, I quit smoking 30yrs ago.
the reason? my 10yr old daughter went thru the house and literally broke every single cigarette I had.
she told me she didn’t want me to die!
it worked! I never had another cig again!
I think I was one of the lucky ones…I had NO side effects or withdrawal at all.
Thats wonderful !! Im going to try
wish me luck
Hello Vicky, was browsing email and saw your comment. I just though about it and realized I quit a year ago today!
I am 34 and started smoking at 16. I had a few short term quits over the years and had a goal of quitting by 30 when i was 25. When 30 came and went I pushed it to 31, 32, 33… I was getting concerned about the health effects, I knew I had to stop, but continued. I had bought a vape in 2017 and it sat for a year until I threw out my cigarettes Nov 15, 2018. I haven’t looked back.
I said I wasn’t going to be one of those reformed smokers, and I have done a pretty good job, it helos that I’m not around any lol. My nom had quit, roommate, best friend, here I was still clinging on. Vaping seems ti be much healthier, the recent health scare was scary but that was explained that people were adding things into their vapes.
I have noticed tonight when I brushed my teeth my gums are nearly all pink! I can have nice breath and I’m not immediately making it bad again. My teeth stay white. I can take a full breath. I can sing again. I can workout without getting winded. I don’t have to go to sleep at night worried I’m slowly killing myself. I don’t have to go outside and hide in a corner to hide my habit.
I have quit a lot of things in my life, but this was probably the best one I could have done for my health. Good luck to you! I’m proud that you reached out. Make a plan, stay strong, do lots of self care, and reach out when you need to!
im down to no more then 4 a day and most days its just 2 a day, just sick of smoking. plus going through hormonal changes smoking makes them all worse.
