Hi Rayne here, having a bad day and want to be off the Mirt. I know every one is different but I am getting desparate now. I need to have ideas of what could replace the Mirt. I want to be off it due to the side effects although the antid side of it is working. I need something that is good for Anxiety, does not make you feel sick and gives a good sleep pattern. Am going back to my gp but do not want to be fobbed off with any old thing. Can't take Prozac or similar. I know its a tall order but I would value your support out there.
ask your GP to refer you to a specialist, a psychiatrist  GPs are good but they do not know an awfull lot about psychiatric illness, its a s
hame fluoxetine (prozac) is not an option :?  but try venlafaxine, its very important to take it VERY regularly tho, venlafaxine has a VERY shorty half life :ok: :peace:
Is Venlafaxine a prescription drug or a natural remedy sold over the counter? I am really sorry Mirt has so many bad side effects because I have found it good for the Depression. There always seems to be a draw back.YOU THINK WITH BEING ABLE TO PUT MEN ON THE MOON THEY COULD COME UP WITH THE PERFECT MEDICATION TO FIGHT DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY. oh Well, back to the drawing board.
Rayne , I am just the same as you! I have been on mirtazapine for 3 months now (30mg). I tried citalopram and had the worst reaction ever - panic, palpatations - I didn't sleep for 3 days!
I have started CBT and the counsellor said I'm not depressed its all anxiety. He mentioned Beta Blockers for the symptoms of anxiety and they have hardly any side effects. My worry is that the depression will come back.
Do you ever get the feeling the Doctor think \"Oh no not her again!\" - I do ! Last time I went he said \"what do you want to do?\", as if I know in my state of indecisiveness! It was you stay on them or you don't and ALL antidepressants have side effects .
Well i'm plodding on and refuse to take any time off work as this thing won't beat me, some days its hard tho.
as regards your doc not being interested SM13, time to try another doc, or better still ask to be refered to a psychiatrist  hmmmmmmmmm as regards your therapist telling you that you're NOT depressed  for starters he's not qualified to DIAGNOSE your condition, nor is it his job to do so, do yourself a favour SM13, take no notice of him and ask for another therapist, he's talking crap grrrrrrrrrr  in fact i'd be inclined to report him to the health authority, bad coucilors can do a LOT of damage, unfortunately there are plenty that are no more than 'quacks' they are not required to have any formal qualifications  :?
take care peeps and keep posting :ok:
cheers,
