I was wondering whether chronic pancreatitis affects urine color at all?
I noticed that my urine has been more yellow.
However I have tested negative to bilirubin so this is not the cause of the yellow color.

Yes it does Brett, I sometimes have yellow/orange urine, how long have you been diagnosed,I take lots of medications for mine,I see my consultant about once a month.

Hi Emma
Thanks very much for replying.
I was wondering is your yellow/orange urine due to bilirubin in the urine? Or is your bilirubin elevated in your blood tests? Or is it something you observed with your urine but your urine/blood tests come back normal even though there has been a change in color?
I'm actually still following up with doctors trying to get a diagnosis. I had a one off heavy binge drinking session of very strong spirits where I got carried away and over did it on a night out (haven't drunk any alcohol since that evening). It left me in so much pain and very ill for a long while.
Since that evening I noticed I had the change in urine color and I have had severe radiating back pain (including muscle spasms) which is mainly on the right hand side mid back but also radiates to shoulders and lower back.
I've had a lot of medical tests so far and doctors have not been able to ascertain a diagnosis yet as everything has come back normal.
Thanks very much for replying.

I just wondered having a similar problem with CP does your urine have a strong or strange oder also? Kinda feel alone on some of the problems have had CP 15 years....
Hi manda,
Do you mind me asking what caused your CP, I have it too, been diagnosed 2 years nearly and it's just getting worse, I take enzymes vitamins ext and anti indigestion tablets and yes sometimes my urine is dark orange. My worse complaint is severe back pain .

They aren't 100% sure I did drink in my 20's but the specialist clinic thinks I got it around 25 I am now 40 and very sick with it. I am sorry you are not feeling well the back pain is hard to deal with I have pain in my mid rib cage to my left side going into my back. My dad also has it. Wish this disease had more options I am usually up beat but kind of down about it. Have been feeling really sick the last few weeks more than usual.
Can I ask what enzymes you take they keep putting me on creion and don't listen that it makes me worse. I also take zantac or nexiam like crazy but it rarely helps... Hard not to get down. But trying to be upbeat for my husband and child.
Hi manda,
I take creon 40,000 strength, it's an awful illness we have to put with, have you and your dad had all the various tests/scans ect,
My consultant thinks it is caused by drinking wine in evenings about 3 glasses, then my GP says I'm just unfortunate as he sees full blown alcoholics who never get this,

I forgot to ask Manda, where are you based, I'm from UK.

Emma,
I am sorry you have to deal with this disease. It is hard. Yes I have had a hidascan, multiple MRI's, I have had an endecopy, I had a colonoscopy, I had ERCP and Lythotripy done. Because i have pancreatic stone calcifications. I have a stent in my duct. Also they are concideering me for a total panctectomy with Isolet transplant sugery. but I am scared and didn't go back. My father turned 60 one day after I turned 40 last month he is dying from this disease. He got worse when he found out I was ill and came to visit me in the hospital. I am so sorry you have this. I wish you a long life and good health. If you ever need someone to listen I am here.
I live in the US. wishing you the best life has to offer,
Manda
if you ever just want to chat you can e-mail me....
Hi manda,
Have sent you a private message
Best wishes
Emma
I didn't get your message sweetie. I hope you are feeling well today. I sent you a private. Message also.
Hi Manda
Yes urine is mostly bright to dark yellow and has a strong odour.
When I have asked the doctors they do not think it is connected to pancreatitis (as my bilirubin is normal)
My gastroenterologist is not sure if I have chronic pancreatitis yet though. He said he can do an endoscopic ultrasound at some point to have a look and see if he can see anything wrong.
Cheers
Brett
Hi Manda
I was also wondering whether you have ever asked any of your doctors about your change in urine colour or odor. Has any doctors been able to say why that has occured? And whether it is related to your chronic pancreatitis?
As doctors say to me it's not related to pancreas. And from what I read about CP its seems to be symptoms relating to stool rather than urine (unless you were jaundiced).
Sorry to hear that you have CP and wishing you all the best with managing the condition.
Brett
I have CP, and was diagnosed at 29. I'm now 34, and seem to be getting sicker by the day. I've had 14 hospitalizations in the last 5 years. The stomach pain is so severe sometimes that I can't stand up straight, and the back is equally poor. Keeping food down has also become increasingly difficult and I have most of the prediabetic symptoms including the inability to heal, and my urine has become so increasingly terrifying to look at, that I can't even seem to want to hydrate. And I know have such a deathly fear of hospitals that I can't even bare to call my GP. And so I have turned back to the part that landed me here in the first place, drinking, after three years of sobriety.
I'm scared. And I don't know what to do.
Hello. Unread your story and indeed you should really go see your primary doctor as well as a GO doctor asap. This disease is no joke. I was diagnosed last year with it. While my symptoms are not as bad as yours, I know it's nothing to mess around with. You should also leave the alcohol alone. I know you are stressed but drinking will only make matters worse. Please go see a doctor!
I meant to say that I read your story and that you should go see a GI doctor. Not a GO doctor . Forgive the spelling errors.
Hi emmab..
I have been noticing some symptoms of CP and have had several test done but i havent be diagnosed of it .My MRI scan just shows enlargement of the tail of my pancrease with no billary obstruction and no mass lession seen .Yet i feel abdominal pain that radiates to my back ,even though its not constant .It comes and go .What do you suggest ?..and do i have Cp already ?
