Does Cpt come back after surgery

hi am asking this because I suffererd a really bad left wrist injury while serving with RAF in 2000 I had metal plate put in wrist.fast forward to last year had metal plate removed and because my symptoms(had this for years) where showing cpt I had surgery to de compress cpt.will i be free of cpt now or will It come back I am 37yrs and also have arthritis in my hand and because of the cpt surgery i now have golfers elbow.any advice would be welcome thanks

it does occasionally recur after surgery. There are no wholly reliable estimates of the risk. My guess is that it's about 1% over 20 years but that is only a guess based on the numbers I see. Dr J Bland

thank you Dr Bland for your very quick reply.could I ask one last question by going over my medical notes from my time in the RAF the notes of my procedure says

open reduction and internal fixation

then later on in notes it says FRACTURE to left distal RADIUS this involved compression of the joint surfaces.

this was the year 2000 and I had my op foŕ cpt decompressing in 2017 could it be that I've had cpt decompression in 2000 as well

thanks again Dr

it doesn't immediately sound as though they carried out a carpal tunnel decompression in 2000. Usually the surgical notes would describe prophylactic division of the transverse carpal ligament if they did that. Dr J Bland
