Heard this from quite a few forums. One day I woke up with a swollen gland in my armpit after actually feeling better with my anxiety. I use deodrant straight after shaving so many times which is what I usually do and I never had problems before - I know it's being warmer lately. I feel like the later I put on my deodrant before going to sleep the more pain I get. The strange thing is that I don't feel poorly or ill for there to be a reason to have a swollen gland. I'm petrified it's something like herpes, if it was coldsores would it usually cause glands to swell in the armpit? No tingling on my lips or sore throat to accompany it. The nurse looked at my armpit and said there was a few razor cuts and seemed to think it was from shaving and nothing to worry about.
I was reassured but after a week of being to the doctors, I've just touched the armpit and it's still slightly tender but no lump, just slightly swollen. I started touching the other one and out of nowhere it started hurting after touching it quite a lot. Am I paranoid or crazy?!
I tend to obsess over health concerns as well. On a good note at least we don't ignore the concerns and let them escalate before taking action. First I don't believe it's herpes. Typically the symptoms appear at the area of infection. They are painful blisters and do not go unnoticed. Anytime someone is ill, it can cause glands to swell. It could be something very minor as a cold. I would recommend not touching your armpit for a while. You could be applying too much pressure and not realizing it. Are you using deoderant or antiperspiriant? Sometime the antiperspirant can clog pores.
Chronic Anxiety does weaken the immune system and could just be a low grade virus too. Epstein barr acts up if you have had mono in the past as well. All viral nothing to pay attention too unless full out fever occurs. Sometimes i have found tensed body and an exhausted body triggers that as well. Nothing you really do for it maybe have a nice warm bath or shower to relax your body.
Thank you so much for your reply. That is one good side over the health anxiety. However, I've wasted so much money and time worrying over things I've never actually had, such as HIV and now herpes. I had the herpes fear before and my body literally created the symptoms to then find I didn't have HSV 1 or 2.
I know that herpes can work in strange ways and sometimes you don't even know you have it though. I don't have any swollen glands in my neck though. I don't have a cold or anything either. I had a random sore throat when I woke up this morning that I sometimes get. I've read this can be associated with acid reflux which I have.
I use deodrant which has alcohol and alumininum in it which is apparently bad, especially straight after shaving and before bed.
Thank you for your reply! I've read the opposite as well. Apparently because anxiety is constantly in a high fight/flight mode it is working hard constantly and fights off a lot of things. I never really get ill if I'm honest as well.
What is mono and the symptoms of Epstein Barr - that's another strain of herpes right? I've had chicken poxs in the past.
Mono or epstein barr is a virus. You can have it and never know or it can be severe and oh boy you know. Most every by 21 has been in contact with it. There are many theories that tis and auto immune stuff is triggered frim the epstein barr cirus qnd a spin off of it. In the alternative world of holistic and such it is more believed then in traditional. I have eye issues that are believed from the epstein barr virus and that is from a too nuero opthqmologist. So strange the way certain viruses work and stay in your bidy and you dont know it. Usually bad sore throat, exhausteion, cold and swollen glands. Last from a week to six some the organ can swell a but. Many do know when they have it and there is a blood test for it. You get it inky once although some relapse and then the epstein barr resides inside you, some think they had the flu but it wasnt a test marker would show it, it wont show up after a year though. But it is in you once you have had it extremly common.
Thank you for the information. Is it commonly called Glandular Fever? Is this more common than coldsores?
