So my cyst showed up almost 2 weeks ago. I went to my GP and then my gynecologist and it is not infected so they gave me no antibiotics. They both said to just keep doing sists baths. But after reading things posted here I'm wondering if it needs to burst or not since it is not infected? My gynecologist said it is about the size of a walnut. It is not that painful unless I am manipulating it. But it is pretty firm and at times can cause discomfort. Especially since I am on my period now and using tampons. I have read about some other remedies and I am wondering if I should try any of them or go back to my gynecologist and insist they drian it or remove it? I am not going to suffer through much longer but some have said they have had one for years. This is my first one at age 44.

I've just had my 16th abscess and it just burst 6hours ago. Believe me you will know if it needs to bursts. Mine was the size a hens small egg. I couldn't walk the pain was that much. I had to pee in the shower as I couldn't sit on the toilet. When It becomes like that, that's when I know its about to and needs to burst. This has been my experience with all of my 16!!! I think u should keep doing what the doctor says. Sitz baths and if it gets any bigger or starts paining you then go back to them.

Thank you. I have my period right now too so that doesn't help. I was very emotional last week as well which happens before my period. But my husband and I have a very active sex life and can't imagine sex would be any fun with this. I read you should not have sex with one but if it never goes away what do I do?
I'm the same and my boyfriend is tormented because he can't go near me. Have you had sex with it and was it painful? For me when I notice it coming I don't have sex because from when I notice it, it turns into an abscess and burst within a week. That would be interfering with your life. I would go back to my doctor and say that. Tell them you need something done, say you can't have sex etc...... It is awful thing to go through to. What's worse is my doc says I will prob always get them. Its something my body is prone to. He said to try help prevent them. Wear loose underwear, clean regularly and always wear condoms. I'm thinking now if having the gland removed as I'm suffering to much with it. But def go back to your doctor since you have an active sex life.
This is the first time I have had anything like this. We have not had sex since I nothiced it but just using a tampon is uncomfortable I can't imagine having sex. Why does your doctor recommend condoms?
Hi Rachel i have a question for you: do you still get cysts even if you use condoms during sex? I've had 10-15 cysts, all drained and I'm scared to have unprotected sex with my bf. The last cyst I had popped up after a night with my bf and we didn't use a condom that time. Don't mean to be nosy but I'm trying to pin point what exactly causes mine to flare up.
I am curious about that too. Did your doctor drain yours?
Yes, every cyst has been drained. I've had a total of 3 word catheters and one marsupialization in office instead of in the OR, the rest of the cysts were just landed and drained.

For me u seem to get them anytime. If we use a condom I still get them and when we don't I get them. So for me I think either way I'm going to get them. My doctor told me it's something my body is prone to 
you're like me. So many. I've only had 1 drained. The rest I had to leave burst on there own. My last 1 which burst yesterday was definitely the worse. I've warned my boyfriend that we are using condoms from now. Just to be safe.
I'm 49 and I have never had to deal with anything like this up until 2 months ago. Yesterday was the topper I could barely walk or even sit down. Finally I have some relief! I've been sitting in my shower for close to 30 minutes this morning and when I got out of the shower I went in the front of the long length mirror lifted my leg up and sure enough the head had come off and is now releasing the pus that has accumulated. ( I know totally disgusting) I was reading every home remedy every blog doing everything humanly possible to not go to the doctor and it was getting to the point where I didn't have a choice until this morning where it finally burst. Thank you. I had had enough and callled my doctor Friday and got an appointment for Tuesday. I tried a home remedy I found on here and it didn't work. But I continued to sit in hot baths. My husband and I were going to a concert last night and I was so upset I knew I wouldn't have fun being barely able to walk. So before the concert I sat in the tub for a bit and when I got out I realized it had burst as well. It was still kind of raw but I could at least walk and enjoy the concert. I'm still going to keep my appointment for next week to make sure there are no further problems. I just hope I don't get another one!!
If you get it lanced they place a words catether to prevent it from filling up again which is suppose to stay in for 3/4 weeks. During this time you're not allowed to have sexual intercourse and no tampons during your period.
I just had this done in the emergency room becuse my doctor said it wasnt infected and two days later it doubled in size and becames an absess. Although not having sex is terrible because I have a very active sex life, I would have it lanced again in a hearbeat. The pain was unbearable. and apparently the re-occurance rate is low once the gland has had time to heal from what i've read.
Thank you it ended up bursting on its own on Friday. I had also called my doctor in Friday and got an appointment for Tuesday morning tonhave something done. I'm going keep it to make sure there are any issues from it bursting on its own. It never got very big just hard and uncomfortable.
Have you had a recurrence since they put in the catheter? I am concerned since I didn't have it done that it will come back.
I'll have my catether removed on June 8 so i can let you know. Prior to that I constantly had one since Octovber 2017 until i had to have one lanced in emerg.
I believe I will likely have a re-occurance because my gland wall had thickened... but since the catether, the BG gland wall is healing (normal wall thickness) so hopfully this fixes it. I will keep you posted though. Let me know how you're appointment goes on Tuesday.
Hi Rachel, I have had lots like you. I use to get them that large. Now I spray with silica spray as soon as I can feel it coming. It doesnt get to the point where I cant walk anymore etc. I just put up a new post about silica spray. Dont know if you have tried it. But I feel for you...even peeing in the shower...it hurts! You have to had one to understand how awful it is, takes over your mind/life due to the pain.
Personally bursting is the best thing. Get rid of all the stuff! I use silica spray and it bursts most of the time...best thing ever. I have had them for about 10years.
Hi I was just wondering wre I can get the spray coz mine started 4 days ago n I did not really mind them until it started getting swollen,I went to my doctors n he gave me ati-biotics n this is the second day am taking them,it's really soft n as big two nuts.i have tried the warm water n salt n still hasn't burst.This is my first I just want to try the spray n see if it will make it go away quickly.

I noticed a lump which felt very heavy and sore the morning after i had intercourse with my partner. I booked an appointment with my nurse the following morning ( I thought I had prolapse) my nurse checked me out and said it was prolapse.. and that I had thrush really bad.. and just said if it hasn't got any better to go back but didn't really say anything else about the lump! The lump doesn't feel sore any more and I cant feel it when I'm walking or sitting but it definitely sounds very similar to what you all are talking about. I need some advice please.
