I am still having some weird menstrual periods at age 51, but my chronic fatigue issues, anxiety, and depression have been really terrible as I start this transition. I was put on HRT - just 2.5 mg ( I think ) of Progesterone for 12 days and .5 mg of Estrodial. I would have accepted a patch, but I swim in warm water and use a sauna a lot so that was not going to work.
I have been on for about 10 days and have stomach pains and headaches already. So, I am wondering if this takes a while and then you feel better?
I think I already notice my skin looking more moist, but maybe that is in my mind.
Did you get used to a low dose and then go up more?
Hi Catherine, unfortunately it sounds to me as if you're reacting rather poorly to this HRT that you've been given. Please call your doctor and tell him/her of the side effects you're experiencing and they should change the medication immediately. I would also stop taking it immediately you should not be having headaches as that is one indicator that says that you need to stop this right away and stomach pains as well. I suggest you call your doctor immediately tomorrow or today depending on where you are and let them know of the side effects and hopefully they'll give you something else. I know this first-hand because I had the exact same symptoms and side effects when I started HRT with also the same 10 days and the other half with the other medication but upon telling her how I felt she took me off of it immediately and waited for my body to flush out everything, it took about 2 weeks before she started me on a new low-dose birth control pill.
Thank you. It is not that terribly bad to the point of incapacitating, but I will call her.
Wondering what else there is. I really want to be on HRT because I have heard it really helps people.
Birth control pills have never worked for me, unfortunately. I am actually tolerating these more. I hope the pill is working for you well!
I'm not on them anymore. However the low-dose birth control pill for menopause is different from your regular birth control pill that you would take for just regular birth control so there are quite a few different types of low-dose birth control pills that are used for regulating hormones so that's quite different from what you were probably on before. I took the morning after pill which is the only one that seemed to work for me so you might need to go on that as well.
