I feel like I should know this by now but my health anxiety is getting the best of me.
Lately my head has felt really heavy and today I got lightheaded. My ears have been ringing and my left one felt full yesterday. Ugh.
The lightheadedness scared me today. I thought I was going to pass out I even got hot and sweaty. Is that unusual?
Thanks y'all.
I definitely have spells of lightheadedness, whereas the ringing/noises is constant, although it does go up and down in frequency. I have had the lightheaded feeling for a couple of days at a time but it usually goes away. And definitely got hot and sweaty during my bad episode last week. Hope you get some relief soon.
Hi to answer your question it is typically menieres for me. I grab the betahistine and do my breathing exercises. I have to tell myself i am ok and reduce the anxieties
Hi hay hue yes it's normal. But horrid. I think we try our best to not rely on medication but at times we have too. The trouble is the body takes longer to adapt as its senses are numbed. I too have moments where I think I'm falling and grab onto something. At night I got sweats and light flashes through my head when trying to sleep, I'm 7months now and decided to end medication I take vertifree it's a herb med. I exercise and don't watch too much tv sleep with 3 pillows
Yes mine comes and goes as well! Glad I'm not alone.
That's what I've been trying to tell myself as well lol
I don't take any medicine either. I guess we just have to deal with it.
Have you been diagnosed with Meniere's disease? Anxiety is a big part of Meniere's disease knowing that an attack is coming on and can worsen the attack.
Typically MD is a diseases in one ear. But tinnitus can be in both ears. The dizziness the vertigo the nausea lightheadedness cloudiness is all apart of Meniere's disease that causes the vertigo and in turn causes all these symptoms.
If you have not been to an ENT yet you should go and they will probably send you for MRI'S with and without contrast to rule out any tumors or anything else going on in the inner ear. Once you've done that I would suggest that you go to a specialist at one of the universities if you have been diagnosed with Meniere's disease. They can do further treatment on you that a regular ent cannot do. You may have to go to a neurologist prior to the specialist ENT because that's what your doctor will probably recommend. Meniere's disease is a day by day hour-by-hour minute-by-minute disease that's hard to predict when the attacks will happen. They really don't know the reason or the cause and they really don't have a cure. But there is protocol that they do to try and help some people. Good luck I've been dealing with this disease for a long time with some breaks in between. But this past year has been constant and I am now on diuretics and have had steroid injections in my inner ear and I am on a 1500 milligram or less sodium diet a day to keep the sodium in my body down due to the fullness in the inner ear with fluid. I do follow a specialist at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. He does have me on anxiety meds that help break the attacks when I feel one coming on. I hope the best for you.... please keep us updated.

Yes, I have been diagnosed with MD by a neurotologist. Both of my ears are affected but my left is affected more so. That's the one that was full.
do you find vertifree helpful..i have a vbottle but havent used it yet?
That's typical of the left here being the one that is affected with Meniere's disease. Mine just happens to be there right I guess I'm an oddball.
If you have done all the pre testing ,etc then I would suggest that if you are having problems and still cannot get it under control you go to your nearest top-of-the-line specialist and perhaps a good University that teaches ENT to new doctors in Residence. They have the wherewithal on the different types of testing and protocol for procedures that they can perform to possibly help you. Where do you live? That may determine where you can go.

Not alone, mine is the right with 20% hearing, the other is perfect hearing. I can trace the problem with my right ear back to a heavy cold many years ago which left me a bit deaf. A few years later I asked to get it syringed and was told there was nothing to syringe and the tube was blocked. It didn't bother me but I used ear plugs when I went swimming as otherwise it filled full of water and drained away in my pillow at night .
Hi yes I find it is helpful. I came off my medication two weeks ago and just relied on this. I found though when I do lots of activity or watch too much tv which makes it worse then Cinnazine (travel sickness) tablet works wonders. So no need for headache tablets. I just take one table of 15mg and I thought it would knock me out and it didn't me shaking head slowed down and felt much better and less sick. Some may need more others may need less but I felt betahistamine just made my headaches worse after a while and who wants to be on medication long term? The Vastibular exercises are tough to do but keep doing them and say to yourself I'm not giving in to this. I think with our conditons it can make us have panic and anxiety attacks with depression and boy have I had loads of them. I now go out for a walk or slow jog and cycle and if my head is thumping or I feel dizzy after take the vertifree and if too bad then cinnazine. Keep TV to a minimal and artifical lighting. Pillows high when needed too. Hope this helps
Hi Vertifree is a combination of herbs that help the vestibular areas of the brain. Lots of reviews rate it so worth a try. I take it 3 times a day and more if my conditon is worse which touch wood hasn't been too bad over the last few weeks. Cinnazine is a travel sickness tablet and that works really well so try that. You can get it from a chemist try one dose first and see how you go. It stops sickness really fast. Hope that helps
I believe it's an herb someone gave me a bottle of it I will check and let you know
Hi Hayhue all your symptons are what we all here on this forum are experiencing especially when you first have the condition. Its horrid I know. You feel like you are trapped in your own head. The lightheadness still scares me 8 months on and catches me unaware at times. Try Cinnazinne if your conditon is not comfortable wished Id tried it earlier. It's a travel sickness pill and does help. Betahistamine which you get from the doctor suppresses the sensations but wont cure it and could make it take longer to heal. But we do have lives to get on with so yes I have used it. Came off it two weeks ago and tried Vertifree from Amazon and it does help my symptons. If you get bad headaches then Naxproxen is good but don't take it more than two days as with medication it can cause stomach problems. The usual headache tablets just made me more sick hated them. Cut down process foods and sugar and get plenty of rest when you can. For ringing in the ears I tried meditation music when I wanted to slepp it really did the trick. Plenty of pillows to prop you up does help too. Drink plenty of water too. I did hear about reducing sodium but my doctor said if your kidneys are ok you didn't need too. But I use sea salt which is not as processed as tablet salt.
Hope that helps and remember we are all here to help each other.
The doctor I saw is a professor of otolaryngology, neurology, bioengineering, and physical therapy at a top medical University in my state. He was the top of the top in the South Western area of my state (where I reside). He's also director of balance disorders at the Univeritys medical center.
I do think I found a pretty good one. I am unable to take a diuretic, though, as I'm allergic to sulfa so I have to stick to low salt only.
Thank you for your input tho!!
Thank you! I have to travel in the next several months and I'll keep all of those in mind!
Good for you! Sounds like you are in very good hands!
Drinking lots of clear fluid like water will also help flush the sodium from your system.
Best of luck to you! It's a horrible disease to have to live with .
