when I urinate, ejaculate, or get out of a hot shower, my the opening of my penis/frenulum seems pinkish red. is this variation in color normal in general?

When you are taking a shower are you applying soap, shower gel directly to your penis? If you use other forms of body wash in the shower, such as hair shampoo, this can also get onto the sensitive skin of the head area of your penis.
Together with whatever else you apply to your penis on a regular basis, such as anything you use as a lube for sex or masturbation, this too can can add to the mix of causing irritation to the head area, and foreskin if you are not circumcised.
