Hi all! I've been seeing a new guy for the past 2 months and he insists that he has never had a cold sore in his life but i got off work Tuesday night when i noticed this redness around my lip
My doctor visually diagnosed me and said it was a cold sore but I didnt have any typical cold sore symptoms. I didnt even feel any tingling, itching, or burning around my lips and i wouldnt have noticed them there if i hadnt looked in the mirror
I did use some lysine the next day and it went away in a few hours but just wanna see what yall think!
i have never had a cold sore in my life either and sometimes a red patch shows up on my lip too.. if it went away i would just watch to see if it actually blisters if it ever happens again

Sometimes people can transmit it even though they never displayed symptoms. Maybe he had cold sores when he was very young and never knew? Or maybe he really did have the virus laying dormant this entire time and the virus shed and spread to you.
Although cold sores do usually accompany the tingly/burning feeling, HSV is a very complex infection. Some people have symptoms so mild that they don’t even notice they are infected. They might not even look twice or might dismiss their symptoms as a rash or pimple. But don’t worry about it too much, its extremely common, there’s way too much social stigma surrounding it when it’s simply a skin condition. Just be cautious because now you’ll be able to transmit the virus, especially when or if you have an active sore again.
Also, oral herpes can spread to the genitals during oral sex and cause genital herpes, so try to abstain from oral sex if you have a sore inside or around the mouth.
