I have seen probably around ten doctors, all of which have told me they do not think I have lichen sclerosus or lichen planus. But one general practitioner told me he thought I do have lichen planus so now I am paranoid. My only real symptoms right now are that my inner labia minora and around my vaginal opening are a bit inflamed and a little sore to the touch. And I haven’t been having sex, because I had a little tear on my vagina that kept kind reopening. I will attach some pictures. Does this look at all like lichen sclerosus?
Wait I am unsure of how to attach pictures (
I though the definitive, gold standard test was a biopsy? Have none of these Drs offered or suggested to have I've done to stop the guess work?
Hi, this is what my started as and gradually developed into white patches . No doctor recognised mine as LS either until recently. Keep persisting until you get a biopsy or try steroid ointment . Good luck .
My gynecologist has offered to do a biopsy to ease my mind, but he says it is highly unlikely that I have it and that he’s diagnosed it in many women before. He thinks that it is just persistent contact dermatitis and the whole situation has caused my anxiety to go through the roof, so he thinks that my anxiety is exacerbating it. Every other doctor I’ve seen says the same thing, that I’m fine. Things really aren’t that horrible or painful down there, I’m just so obsessed that I feel like having the biopsy is the only way I can move on... but I don’t want to make things worse down there by getting an incision
puppy, why not use a mild over the counter steroid cream to see if it has any effect? I assume LP is treated with steroids as LS is. And if there is no change you won't have done any harm.
My biopsy hasn’t left a scar or anything . It’s only very small incision . Why not try steroid ointment as Beverly said , you have nothing to lose . If it clears up you’ll be ok . Just take it from there .
