A week ago I did something stupid and smoked a celebration joint because I was starting a new job were I couldn't smoke and also personally wanted quit, anyways that night I end up having this chest tightness and stomach fullness and heart racing feeling and went to the emergency room. The doctors told me my potassium was a little low and checked my heart and stuff and I was OK. The panic I was in scared me and I was feeling scared I might die just when I finally getting my life together. I have eye floaters when in the sun or looking at white paper or screens sometimes. I also get like a little falling sensation when I'm laying down or about to go to sleep. Also have experienced chest tightness . I think its all anxiety related but wasn't sure when I went to the doctor physically I seemed fine. The weakness from the low potassium went away but when I am in certain places like open parking lots with no shade or if I'm at work and I get my eye floaters or feel the falling sensation this rush kind of comes over me and my heart feels like it beating faster then I get scared I might pass out in front of people or lose my job and just fall right back were I want to get away from. I looked up my symptoms and a lot points to anxiety but I guess wanted to know how can I stop this without meds and get back to my normal life. I want to workout but I get scared my heart might start pounding again and have a heart attack. I also just started a job as a mailman and I get scared when I get out of training I might faint or something and lose my job. I'm turning 32 soon. And I really just want live a normal healthy life. My eye floaters haven't gone away and I get chest tightness so often which scares me. I was starting to do just little walks which is fine. Then today I got into an argument with my daughters mother and afterward I felt that rush feeling and checked my blood pressure which began to raise the falling sensation and the chest tightness came. Please help me.
Sounds like the same thing I experience. I get a falling sensation too but it happens when I'm tired or get up from bed it also happens when I lose weight. I'm slim but sometimes I don't eat and lose pounds. Always eat well, stay hydrated especially since your job requires lots of walking. Drink wateršI think it's our blood pressure that falls to low or gets too high. I have this full feeling in my head like blood rushing from my head down to my lower body I feel I will collapse at that moment. It's definitely our blood pressure. Mine might be too low though. About the falling sensation when you sleep or about to sleep. It's completely normal it happens to all of us. I get that too I'm half asleep and half awake at the time and I feel like I'm falling down the bed. Now if everything I mentioned doesn't sound like you. My bad. Then it's probably something else.
Take CarešHope you get better & you find out what's causing all your symptoms.
Your eye floaters can be caused by the same thing I mentioned your blood pressure. This happens to my mother she has high blood pressure. But if you see flashing lights or small flickering lights go to the hospital. This is a sign you are having heart trouble. It could also be a panic attack what you experience. The eye floaters won't go away. Eye floaters are tiny scars in your eyes. It's best to ask your GP and Eye Specialist it's important.š All this should be treated by a medical professional. Anxiety raises our blood pressure thats why we need to treat our Anxiety. I've heard this only happens to those of us who suffer from extreme Anxiety. Good Luck
Hi Justin you have anxiety which throws up not only mental but very frightening physical symptoms.A therapist is definitely the best way to go and learning relaxation techniques and reducing stress can help lessen Ć nxiety.Exercise is also excellent trust me you won't take a heart attack.Try not to focus on your symptoms as the more you do the worse they become.Go to see your doctor and ask to be referred for treatment. I get floaters and the falling sensation and my blood pressure is fine.Your heart is ok don't start chasing that idea and end up with health anxiety.Get the help you need please.
Thanks so much. I went to the hospital today and everything physically checked out excellent. Now that I recognize its a mental I can focus on what it takes to get better. Just knowing I'm physically OK made me feel so much better already.
Hope you're feeling a little better about what's going on, myself I'm a diagnosed chronic anxiety sufferer, well its a chronic anxiety and depression disorder, so please don't feel like you're alone in this mate. Much like the other replies I'm going to start with recommending GP advice as essential, not only to start with but on a regular footing if you can. A lot will depend on your particular surgery as this can sometimes be a bit of a lottery in the services provided, but you are looking at regular blood tests, BP weight monitoring on the physical side and regular discussions about your mental state etc. Therapists are good ideas, but if thats little step too far at this stage for you, can I suggest you look up things like mindfulness techniques, self help CBT, also examine some of the meditation packages avaable. There are loads on the net plus your local library will have a lot of information you can obtain. Two excellent resources to start you off ;
Additionally I'll also suggest a visit to the opticians, just to check out the floaters, if already suggested oops. If there are issues optically they'll get your GP to refer you on.
Anyway, good luck Justin both with the health and new job
I don't take any medications for the most part I been pretty healthy my entire life. The floaters are definitely going be to something I check with an eye doctor about. After my recent visit to the emergency room for chest tightness after a EKG and xray of my chest, blood tests they found nothing wrong. Which was big sigh of relief as I think a lot my anxiety came from over analyzing my physical health without seeing a doctor. I have adapted a more healthy diet and definitely want check out breathing exercises since I really want to stay med free. Thanks so much for your help.
This sounds a lot like me. I get scared about losing my job due to my anxiety. I also go to a lot of concerts, and there's been times where I've had to leave early because I couldn't be with people anymore. I've had multiple blood tests done, urianalysis, xrays, and ekgs. All come back normal. Anxiety is a freaking nightmare, but it gets easier to come with as time goes. Good luck!
