Two months ago, I started having vague upper abdominal pain, mostly on the left side. At the same time, I had a few episodes of diarrhea, but these went away. After a couple of weeks, I went to the doctor. She ordered a blood tests and an abdominal ultrasound to rule out pancreatitis since my pain was mostly on the left side. All my bloodwork was normal. The only thing she mentioned was that my eosinophils were on the high side of normal, but still normal.
My ultrasound was normal except for my liver. My liver is enlarged and fatty. They could not find my gallbladder. In fact, the tech asked me twice if I still have it. And I do.
Fast forward to now. I have had no nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, nothing. But I have pain on my right side now that rarely goes away, but does occasionally disappear for a day or two before returning. It never gets worse than a 4 or 5 out of 10, but almost every day, I am aware of it being there. It ranges from a catching feeling to a stinging, irritated feeling. I have not eaten dairy or fried foods since this all started, and it doesn't seem to make a difference what I eat. It's just there.
I have a CT scan scheduled for early next week, but I am having so much anxiety over this. Is gallbladder pain constant like this? Why could they not see my gallbladder on ultrasound? This was never explained to me, and I find it confusing. Can the liver cause pain like this if it is enlarged? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated since I'm also traveling next week and a bit freaked about it since I'll be eating out a lot while I'm gone.
