Does this sound like ibs?

Hi all 😊I'm going down the same road I know you have all walked is this ibs or something else?

My symptoms have been pretty much constant since September I one day when I can't stop going really soft stool lots of mucus looks like bits of onion skin when I wipe (I'm so sorry those 😷wink then I have other days when I can barely go at all i have like period pain every day around my hips (and sometimes back) it's not enough to take painkillers just a annoying ache.

I have a almost constant tummy ache I never feel hungry it's not loss of appetite because I can eat just never feel hunger pains. I thought ibs cones and goes I have had it since September? Allmybloods and urines came back clear so kind of left in limbo 😩 I get nausea but a ginger tea calms it. What I read about ibs I don't know whether I fit the mould or not? Any help who be appreciated my dr says ibs and anxiety so any advice would be really really appreciated xxxx

Don't worry I've had it since November (bit better now) and had it years ago too. Mine brought on by stress and anxiety. All my bloods were normal and I had a colonoscopy which was also normal. The pain was so bad before Xmas that I ended up in a&e twice!!! I couldn't get out of bed some days and had no appetite and lost over a stone in weight. You will be fine as long as your Dr is happy with the diagnosis.

Thank you mine has been going on since September don't get me wrong it has got a tiny bit better and I guess if it was something more sinister it would be getting worse? Just this weird lower stomach feeling battling it every day xx

If you are unsettled about this condition again talk to your GP, You have had bloods taken  so that are no sign of blood in your condition so you should feel more at peace at that fact

Sometimes foods pass through the body in the stool, something like Sweetorn can be like that as it is hard to digest. If you pass what looks like Coffee Grounds that needs to be checked.

Your GP has diagnosed IBS and Anxiety so you need to have confidence on His Diagnosis.

If you are still unhappy the next test is sticking a special camera up into the bowel. Sedation may be given and you need to prepare the day before the examination. However like many invasive test there are risks so be comfortable in your own skin if this test is arranged for you, generally as they examin they can fix anything that is wrong at the same time

Your GP has diagnosed IBS and Anxiety, tummy churning can be caused by Anxiety, Many herbal teas will help your digestion.

Many peoples stools vary day to day, sometimes people have up to two movements daily although most times only one. Also people can miss a bowel movement to various degrees

Thanks bob I guess we are just more tuned into our bodies my bloods showed infection that's why they are say post infection ibs. I try to look at the positives poo has never need a real topic of convo in my house until now. Thank god he married me before this lol x

My IBS pain can feel like period cramps and it started off constant.    Once I got my disgnosis, my pain became come and go cramps when my health anxiety disappeared. Anxiety can change your symptoms for the worst.  I have had nausea with IBS if my pain has been bad.

With IBS, all your tests will be negative because IBS is a functional disorder.   Since all your tests were negative and your doctor diagnosed IBS, I would trust your doctor.

Post infection IBS is still IBS.  It is just a different cause from others.  Everyone has a different trigger for their Irritable Bowel.  Try distraction techniques such as more exercise like swimming or walking,  take up a hobby.  It will take your mind off your symptoms.

If you are showing infection in your bloods Hias your GP given you anything for that ?. If you are having problems with food, go back to your GP and explain your concerns

Try keeping a food diary to see if you are reacting to certain foods. You could always try the Fodmap diet with the help of a dietician.  IBS pain can be felt almost anywhere even in your hips and joints.

Most of my IBS pain I can describe as a dull annoying ache but not bad enough for painkillers.  Try an anti spasmodic such as Buscopan which is an over the counter medication or peppermint tea.  Nurofen also helps me along with Buscopan.  You could also ask your doctor to prescribe you an anti spasmodic.  It is useful to have these medications to hand to deal with bad flare ups.

No they haven't I passed a lot clot so attended hospital and the dr said that was the end of the infection and it never happened again I have felt better since then

Thank you the distraction does make sense if I am out with friends or have people over to my house I have a normal evening where it doesn't even cross my mind x

That is great, at least you can get some peace and not worry now about that

Keep a hold

I have mebeverine found that didn't do anything mine sounds very much like yours just a dull tummy ache all the time and the bloody bloating that getting me down a lot. I have noticed certain things will give me stomach pain like bananas 🍌 very strange I guess it's all a learning process and I could deffo do more to help myself x

Do you have ibs? I find something I have lower right abdominal pain and sometime left does that sound about right?

Mebeverine made me feel a lot worse so that's why I tried Buscopan instead.  You may need to try several anti spasmodics to find one that helps.  Pain typically moves about with IBS.  Sometimes you can get right sided pain, other times left sided or middle and sometimes all three at the same time.

Once you get more familiar with your symptoms and triggers, you will begin to feel better.  Anxiety is a major factor. Although, lots of negative tests are reassuring, everyone worries about what ifs.  The trick is to keep telling yourself you have been diagnosed by a doctor and you have been told nothing serious is going on.  Keep telling yourself positive things.

With bloating, try a gluten free diet to see if wheat, rye, barley or other grains  are causing it.

Relaxation is the key.
