Hello everyone,
I just posted, but this tech-challenged granny posted in the wrong place.
SO, I will try again: Over the past month I have had discomfort in my lower belly, burping, and loose stools. I don't feel like eating. I get something similar once or twice a year, but I think I forget how uncomfortable it was.
I get colonoscopies every five years (had one last year) and they were all negative. My mother, aunt, and daughter all have (had) IBS. Does this run in families??? I know for sure anxiety does - we all have (had) it, and I take the prize for this most intense case!
Does this sound familiar with anyone? I would love to talk with someone,so thanks!
Best wishes

I don’t know if it’s genetic, but possibly? I mean my aunt and cousin also have ibs and my mum has other extra bowel issues (thanks to my birth), we seem to have stomach / bowel issues in my gene pool. but ibs is very common.
I get discomfort a lot in lower tummy and wind not much burping but I spose it can come out one way or other I had colocscopy clear they say ibs cause everything was clear donubhave have loose stools
IBS can run in families; my brother also had it.
B, thanks for this - I always wondered if bowel issues ran in familes! Yes, I don't know either about the genetics, but I sure know anxiety is learned.
Oh, and I just read that 40 million people have IBS in the US. That is mind boggling.
Lisa, did you have any other tests done? I am eating a LOT differently and am trying not to worry. I will give this plan a chance! (my colonoscopy was clear a year ago, fyi)
Thank you!
Pippa, this is making more and more sense! I remember my mother and aunt talking about their 'nervous stomachs'. I guess that's what I have too.
Thanks for the info!
I had lots blood tests and a colonoscopy what are your symptoms and what tests u have done
I had a colonoscopy a year ago - have had several and they are all negative. I haven't been to my doctor yet, just trying Fodmap, pro-biotics, and ginger. I am waiting it out to see if these help. I wouldn't mind bloodwork, but I dread going through medical tests that I may not need. Thanks, Lisa!
