On May 5th of this year I took three doses of Flucloaxillin due to a fingernail infection. Due to a fear of kicking off my IBS I thought Id test it out so took one dose on the thursday...second on fri...third on sat. After the third day I got TERRIBLE water d* and it was very very miserable. As expected, this spiralled into a horrific 2 months of d*, cramps, gas and what seemed like some infection, however, after learning what foods not to eat I did solidify my stool. The d* continued all the way up to July though and I finally got a stool test, h.pylori test and even a gluten/anaemia test. All clear (Im assuming bacterial infection would show on these tests?) Up to this day though, some things on certain days just DONT work - I usually suffer with IBS-C which, I know it sounds stupid but is very very refreshing and enjoyable for me as since may its been haywire and HORRIBLY anxiety-triggering. I can generally eat what I want but still get quite bad gas and cramps in the morning..I have solid stools but I eat a pastry every lunchtime which I believe constipates me a little but then through the day I tend to add a bit of fibre. I didnt have a loose stool in over a week now but I dont know if its recovery or if its cos Im on a white bread/pasta/couscous/pastry diet..weirdly I have eaten pizza, chips, chocolate and even had some pepsi and been fine so im on the verge of saying Im recovering but unsure as I have cut out many no-no foods and have yet to try them again... Doc told me its 99.9% IBS but Im waiting for a GI appointment
“IBS” is a very generic name given when a Doctor cant find out true causes. it has recently being announced in the news that in fact there is a underlining issue.
i have suffered now for years with water and jelly stools. sometimes go toilet 5/6 times but doctors are adamaant after blood and stools taken that it is not serious.

Is there a possibility you could have a food intolerance?
Sounds like the antibiotics and your anxiety flared up your IBS. Try to stay as calm as possible, keep doing what you are doing and believe your doctor. Since nothing has shown up on your tests, it is most likely IBS. Symptoms can change and bowel habits can change between constipation and diarrhoea. Some people can get IBS A which alternates between the two.
