I had bacterial pneumonia in May this year and was in hospital for 4 days. I haven't been right since. It started with very bad health anxiety and a constant obsession with having a serious illness. Other symptoms (physical) progressed. Shaking, twitching, not being able to gain weight, aching (muscles) legs mainly, feeling low, constant sinus pressure, change in periods, weakness, floaters and cobweb patterns in vision, headaches, hair thinning. Now my symptoms are really achey arms sensitive to the touch, achey legs, achey neck and upper back, lower back ache (prob due to 2 bulging lumbar discs, ddd and arthritis in spine). I've had enough now and had various bloods done, all ok. Has anyone been through similar symptoms? Many thanks x
Hi Faye I understand your frustration, I have had similar experience as have many others on the forum. We all have symptoms of feeling unwell with no abnormal blood tests to say why. In my case I had low B12 but that has been retified through injections but my symptoms have not abated. I my case many sore points in my body, stiffness, tingling in my limbs, tinitus, insominia, fatigue, brain fog etc, etc. Each of us have our own unique symptoms of toture but if there is a similarity you could talk to your GP about the possibility of FIBRO or sending your to a rheumotologist who is knowledge about inflamatory conditions.
Best of luck. Meg
Sorry Faye just typed a long message to you but it has been moderated no idea why, as it was perfectly courteous. In a nutshell maybe talk to your GP about the possibility of Fibro and then ask if you could be refered to a specialist Rhuematalogist, who will know about inflamatory conditions of the body.
Best of luck Meg.
Hi faye71324 I have been very ill in the past with pneumonia, Ive had it twice.you need to be refered by your gp to see a rheumatologist its they that diagnose fibromyalgia lupus rhumatoid arthritus etc. drs normally like to rule out other conditions before refering you. most tests normally come back negative when you have fibro. I only had 1 test come back positive and that was low in vitamin d. I had many many tests and saw every specialist imaginable, after 10 years was diagnosed by a rheumatologist march last year. write down all your symptoms see your gp see if they will refer you to a rheummy take care
Hi Faye,
I have had fibro for 15 years. The reason I am writing is that I was in hospital with Pneumonia three weeks ago while on holiday.Since then my recovery has been very slow and my fibro is inflamed, very painful limmbs, lower back and hips, I find it hard to move.Yet prior to pneumonia,my fibro can virtually go for months, then something triggers it off again.
I have suffered from floaters and cobweb patterns in the past but it has cleared up.Recently I have had hair loss on one side of my head! basically all of your symptoms except I have put so much weight on over the years.Think it could be medication. This is mainly to let you know not to be scared. We are all different with our fibro,I have learned to "ride it out" as much as possible, knwig there will be occasion I am painfree.I wish you luck and gentle hugs from me.x
Have you had them check out your thyroid? If not, have them do an ultrasound. Some of your s symptoms do sound like fibro but if they are all new since you were sick then it is possible it did not recover.
Thankyou Kaz40. My doctor has done tests for RA and is happy that it's not that. I have thought about fibro and lupus. I feel rubbish all the time. How long did it take you to get over pneumonia? Dr said it could be post viral. I don't think he really knows!!! All inflammation blood tests have come back ok. I just want to feel myself again. I hurt everyday and feel unwell. Do you have any conditions yourself? Thank you and take care x
Hi moyra94678. Thankyou for your reply. My friend has fibro and a lot of what she says is what I experience. I was very ill with pneumonia and so weak and exhausted after. I feel like I'm falling apart, lol!!! I am quite scared as I have had some health anxiety since the pneumonia which drs seem to constantly fob me off with. I'm not convinced at all that it's all down to that. Feel like I've ran a marathon most of the time and hurt like a 90 year old. I'm 39. I even asked Dr about perimenopause but he dismissed it straight away. I wish you all the best and hugs (gentle) to you too x
Hi. Thanks for your reply. Yes I've had all thyroid tests. All ok. Not sure what to do next. Got appt with orthopaedic specialist next week about my back. Wonder if all this has come from that. Hope you are well x
Sorry, I see you were diagnosed by a rheumatologist. What were you diagnosed with if you don't mind me asking? Thanks x
morning faye71324 I have fibro was diagnosed last year, it took 10 years to finally get a diagnoses after many tests, and seeing every specialist you can think of. I have ME diabetes high blood pressure thyroid problems asthma I have had 2 angina attacks a suspected stroke, pnumonia I was hospitalized both times. it took me over 6 months to get over each episode I was very poorly with both. Its a rheumatologist you need to see to diagnose fibro and they also diagnose lupus rheumatoid arthritus and arthritus. I have arthritus in neck and back some of my fingers. Like you Im sick of feeling unwell and in pain all the time just wish I could feel well and normal again. fibro throws lots lots of different symptoms at us. it affects us all differently in the severity of it, we dont all have the same symptoms. hope you soon get some answears it was a long time for me to get a diagnoses and the answears I wanted. take carex
hope you get on ok when you see the orthopedic about your back. I saw a back specialist he was very rude and totally dismissed their was anything wrong with my back. I knew their was I had an mri it showed arthritus in neck back and tears in my discs. I am in pain all the time with my back and neck. Pnumonia can take a while to get over it took me over 6 months to get over it. take care gentle hugs xx
Hi Meg,
It is because there is an issue where some innocent posts get caught up in the moderation process. The problem is if a space is not left between sentences the software to "catch" links thinks the text is a link. In your post it was luck.Meg - the .me is an internet domain so it is treated as a link as shown here. We are aware of this problem and are going to improve the software. I edited the space into your post and approved it so it is now on the discussion.

Alan

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I had an MRI on lower back which showed 2 bulging discs, one pressing on nerves. Arthritis in the spine and also narrowing of the spinal canal. Got appt with specialist next week but not holding much hope of much being done 😞 I'm sorry you too have had a tough time and that's awful that you were dismissed by the specialist. Take care, hugs, Faye x
nothing was done for me but I sincerley hope you have better luck than I did. hope all goes well for you with the appointment take care gentle hugs karenx
For your sake I certainly hope they find something they can treat. That would be preferable to fibro which would lead to a bunch of tests that come back fine. I'm hopeful that your body is going to recuperate eventually since all of your symptoms started only after you had been sick. I would have been much more concerned if they had been gradually coming on worse and worse over the last several years. Not that you shouldn't be concerned about your symptoms, just in regards to it being fibro.
Arthritis in the spine can also spread out to other areas of the body like migraines, vision problems, muscle spasms, exhaustion in the limbs and muscles. I hope they find something they can treat, i really do.
Thankyou so much for your reply and kind words. Have drs appt this morning. Got specialist appt next week. Will let you know how I get on. It's never ending isn't it? Lots of doctors have fobbed me off with anxiety in the past and although I do believe I have some anxiety, I don't believe it's all down to that. My neck has been hurting lately and upper back. Probably got stuff going on there too!! I hope you are doing ok. Take care, Faye x
