Hi. It's finally time for my doctors appointment. It took a month and a half for my appointment.
Anyways, I do this thing where I play off my anxiety as just me being dramatic or exaggerating, once a good day hits me. I pretend the bad ines never happened.
So it's been a couple of good days and now it's time for my appointment.
Can someone please give me examples on how to bring this up to my doctor. I've never been diagnosed or talked to any doctor about anxiety.
Hi just tell your doctor how you have been feeling and how ànxiety is impacting your life.Don't worry about it they have dealt with anxiety sufferers many times. Please don't just settle for medication ask if you can be referred for therapy.Good luck.
I too have a problem with downplaying my "problems". But I also believe that this prevents me from moving further with my anxiety issues. I've been doing better, and just like you had to wait some time before actually getting an appointment to speak with someone honestly about these issues. We're just holding ourselves back I think. Just be honest and try to get the help you deserve! I'm trying to do the same!
Just be honest with your symptoms, your experiences the dr will know what to do from there. And yes, dont settle for meds, they will want to put you on anti anxiety meds. Ask for acupuncture instead, therapy before you settle for meds. Those can sometimes make you feel worse!
I struggle with the same problem! I always act like it's nothing. I've been talking to my friend who has severe anxiety and she told me what I am currently going through sounds like anxiety so I have an appt coming up next month. It sounds stupid but I never thought anxiety was real, but it's causing major issues in my everyday life that sometimes makes it hard to function.
Explain to your doctor exactly what you just said. Tell him you find yourself downplaying your anxiety especially when you have a few good days. Then explain to the doctor what happens on your bad days. Tell him/her why you made the appointment in the first place. Why did you feel the need to pick up the phone and actually schedule the appointment?
It's helpful to keep a daily journal. Nothing complicated, just a daily sentence or two about the overall feelings of the day. Some days it will be simple and say "good day" other days it might say "excessive worry, rumination, palpitations (or whatever your symptoms may be)" Its good to have this to remind yourself on bad days that there are still good days and also to remember the bad when feeling good, to ensure you get the proper help needed.
How did the appointment go? Neil
So, bad news. My doctor simply brushed it off. Since I first asked for birth control just to ease my self into conversation. She said that birth control doesn't have anxious side effects. I then tried again to explain how I've been feeling and she said I shouldn't have a problem with the birth control and then said a nurse would be right in to do blood work.
Not sure if it was. Miscommunication but this is why I hate going to the doctor they move and talk so quickly I can never get a word in!
Not gonna lie I am pretty p****d after waiting a month for an appointment and over a year to get insurance.
That sucks! I would change Drs. At least she requested blood work, hopefully that comes back clear. But consider switching drs.
Hi sorry you went through that.l think from what you have written the doctor thought you meant that the birth control was had given you anxiety symptoms.Make another appointment and if you could take someone with you.lf you don't want to do that write down what you want to say before you go in.Don't give up try again.
Call back and schedule another appointment. When they ask the reason for your appointment, tell them you want to be seen for your anxieties. I know it sucks, I know it is scary, but you need and deserve some relief.
