Well I saw my dr this morning. Said hip looks great!! Bone has grown into cup and stem. I'm 3 months out from hip revision. Only thing is I have tendinitis and bursitis still. But all of that is fixable with proper physical therapy and massaging. I still have weak hip muscles so he's given me some new exercises to do as well as work hard on those abductor muscles!! Those are soooo weak. And to start working on using a cane. I still have the 90% hip flexion precautions and no twisting!! Giving me a lil more freedom with a lil hint of precaution. It's good to know that hip is fine. I'm 3 ml short compared to 4 cm!!
Just wait for 6, 9, and 12 months. It just gets better with time
Congratulations!!! I am so happy for you. I used a lot of ice treatments for the tendinitis and bursitis and that works faster than anything. Each area I used 20 minutes of ice several times a day...It really helps ..I also went through 8 weeks of physical therapy to get rid of the bursitis and tendinitis. Good luck on getting rid of it try the ice if you can handle it!
Really pleased for you. Your dr sounds good. Wishing you all the best with your recovery.
Ice huh?? Ok I'll try it!! Thanks for the tip!
Thanks Judith! He really is goid. He's very patient and listens to you and answers all your questions. And always returns calls when you call and leave messages. And he shows me exercises to do has me do them and talks me through it. Hope all is going well for you!
Hope all is well with you m0rningangel1
LInda I tried everything and it hurt for years. Then the rehab center this guy told me get ice use it at least 20 minutes several times a day and it will heal fast...so really try it. I also bought a small ultra sound machine...I didn't even pay 100 for it...used it a couple of times a day. rest rest rest and ice!!I also take diclofenac sodium EC a couple of times a day to keep the inflammation down..prescription NSAID
I'm so happy for you! I'm on day 2 after my surgery so am looking forward to that 3-month mark. My leg had to be lengthened some amount as well (not sure how much as my husband didn't ask that since he was just happy I was ok). I ice 20 mins every hour and it seems to be helping with my stiffness and swelling a lot. Hopefully, it will help you as well. Keep up the great work!
I'm doing fine thanks. 4 months, just a bit achy at times! Been thinking of you, cos I think we had our original ops round about the same time. So glad you're gradually recovering.
An ultrasound machine. What exactly dose that do? I'm icing now. My tendonitis is mostly in groin. It's so uncomfortable at times. Dr says deep massaging is good too.
Hi there Linda,
What a day - we both had a good one by the sounds of it - Had my X-Ray, and the misplaced ceramic hasn't moved a single millimetre. It's totally stuck - which is a good thing I am told - so I can now carry on without any fears.
I have full range of movement withno pain at all, so he seemed very pleased with my progress - no weight gain, plenty of walking and cycling.
Whooppee celebrations tonight with a great home-cooked meal, lovely bottle of wine, and now relaxing with some of my favourite cold remedy ... Wh15key ... (not that I have a cold, just want to prevent one ) or as the Scots call it Whisky.
Best wishes
Graham - 🚀💃
Really pleased for you!
Wow that's great!! I've been in Margaritaville the past few nights!! 😝😜. Last night tho I couldn't sleep well had lower back pain on left side and shoulders too were painful!! But we shall persevere!! Take care and glad all is going well for you!! 🤗🤓
What a relief! Some good news, and ways of helping your still existing problems. Good luck with the rest of your recovery!
Thanks Annie!! Yet I feel I've got along way to go. 😩
I just got home from my pre surgery. It was a disaster!! All the test done etc but when I got ready to go I realized it had gotten dark. Since my eye surgery I have been night blind. It was only 5:00 but dark. I ended up getting on the highway headed the wrong direction got lost had to call my son and his wife to come rescue me..they were almost an hour away...things happen!!
Here is some literature on ultra sound machines and what it does...really helped me but the ice really is the way to go!

Mine hurts a lot in the groin area...hip area and my legs...keep up with the ice only 20 minutes per hour though
hi linda,
good news indeed ...phew, what a relief it must be for you - you are so blessed with an orthopedic surgeon like him ...
the tendinitus and bursitis are not so great, but with tender loving care and tips you received , it will be fine --
are you feeling better now? knowing that bone has grown into stem and cup and did you see it for yourself?
now you can delete the other pictures you have in your head ... your hipis strong and getting stronger with each day ..
muscles can be trained ... for some reason mine are taking a long time to do so ... Apparantly I have been doing my excercises incorrectly, according to my PT and have been using my groin muscle instead of thigh muscle --- no wonder groin still feel so tight .... big sigh ....
big warm hug and keep going darling
renee
Good Lord ... what a nightmare --- I am happy that you are safe now ---
would you be able to get those special glasses for driving in the dark --
treat yoursel to something nice tonight, darling
angel blessings
Morning Renee!! Yes I am feeling a little better. Just not happy having this bursitis and tendonitis. He says being immobile for that amount of time caused this not to mention giving me back almost all my length. Yes I saw the X-ray and he showed it to us and pointed out how the bone is growing around the new hip. It's crazy to see those screw in there too!! I know what you mean by muscles.....mine too are taking a long time to train and get stronger. I noticed certain exercises aggravate the groin and those tendons in that area. So how are you feeling? How are things going for you? Hugs to you too!! 🤗🤗. LD
