Dressing off-looks amazing!

Hi

dressing off today,12 days post op.My surgeon is renowned for a cosmetic finish and i am amazed,apparently that is why he glues it.There is a fine line of possibly 3 inches at a guess,it looks like a scratch.

Talking to nurse who was so heplful-the layers of muscle,tendons etc are stitched with dissovable sutures and dissolve in there own time,the are starts to "pull less" when they are gone.Another sound piece of advice is that you should expect to feel tired for approx 4 weeks and that is just getting in over the GA -it can knock the stuffing out of you.

Hi Sarah,

I had the minimally invasive THR and my incision was 3" and glued. My incision is lateral behind my hip. I was also very thankful to my doctor. Some surgeons don't care how they chop you up. I also feel a smaller incision is one less thing to have to worry about during recovery. I am 5 mo post surgery so I am well on my way to recovery. Hope you have a speedy one!

Hi, I had my THR on Nov 19th 2014 and I also had my wound glued. The beauty of it for me was that it was completely healed by day 5 and has left a very fine scar which is so neat. According to the nursing staff my surgeon is famous for using this technique and for leaving a small scar. Mine is only about 3 in. long. The other thing is that I had no bruising and only a little swelling which went down after a few days. I was well pleased, got home the day after surgery and recovered really quickly. Out for a short walk on day 3. So glad that I went ahead with the surgery as I have finally got my life back.

I was also glued and had stera strips as well. My scar is about 7 inches long and looks like a fine line. When the District Nurse came in to take the dressing off, she said it was the best she had ever seen, so I am all in favour of glueing. My husband had a quadruple heart by-pass two years ago and he was also glued and just has a fine line down the middle of his chest, so it seems to be the most popular down our way.
