hey so i'm going to a party on friday and i've heard its not such a good idea to drink a lot or get drunk when on citalopram.. why is that? what happens when you mix citalopram with a lot of alcohol?? and also if i stop taking it now can i then drink on friday as normal and restart the medication the next morning?
Hi Jess...Whatever you do DON'T stop your medication,even if you did this,it will be awhile before your system is rid of it entirely.If you really want to drink,try to do this in moderation.Alcohol can make us act weird and exacerbate feelings "of being out of it"...Don't go there Jess!So try having one or two drinks max and a bite to eat perhaps?Take care x
Drinking cancels out the effects of antidepressants and also alcohol is a depressent so not a very good idea
Hi Jess.
My understanding is that the medication can make the alcohol take more effect, so you need less to get drunk. Have fun but mix with lots of soda maybe and dont spoil your night by getting rotton and feeling sick.
