I have had tinnitus for some time now. It's the hearing my pulse 24/7 that drives me insane. I have bilateral cholesteatoma which is great fun ..... Second op in July. I have been told the tinnitus may go after op? Have doubts. .

the effect on my life?

I cannot hear voices 

i want to kill the person who frowns and pulls the face when the poor 'I ain't deaf' sod has to repeat themselves when asked

the look I get from peeps who have the luxury of full hearing

subtitles are ok ... But 10/15 seconds behind when live (some are very amusing)!

i hate moaning but going deaf in both ears is scaring the bejeezus outta me.

audiology appt on Tuesday for some hearing aids ... I will be fine

I know how you feel and I only have profound hearing loss in one ear, but the tinnitus and hyperacusis, coupled with vertigo problems leaves me very frustrated. And yes, I too hate the look or sigh you get when you ask someone to repeat what they've said because I didn't hear it (especially when people are standing on my deaf side). Good luck for Tuesday.

Your handle sounds a bit rude, but your sense of homour is on a par  with mine

My hearing is fine ,but the philharmonic  comes everywhere with me. just wish 

theywould play something different 

Went to  see my Tinnitus mentor who swapped my old  Noise Generator

for a new streamlined model , without the ariel Slippery little git  !!!

Your Bil Col sounds awesome .what is it ??? If it's awful, don't tell me 

Of course you will be fine. at least Tinnitus isn't fatal

Sorry to hear you have tinnitus. I feel your pain! Hey rather the philharmonic than a pulse but I reckon my annoyance reminds me I am still alive!

Cholesteatoma is basically dead skin cells (which shouldn't be in the ear) grouping together and attacking what they can.... The drum, ossicles, mastoid bone (which can, but rarely) cause meningitis. Bilateral cholesteatoma is rare so I am special!! My ENT doc is fab and will sort my l ear in July.

I know nothing about hearing aids so any tips from you would be great!

Morning Debs. bit early I know but I usually go to a car boot in 

The Hope valley, wonderful drive over the moors, but of course the

weather is naff ,so, here I am mug of coffee in bed.

Your gruesome era'ole gang  sounds as though they are a roaming gang

of thugs  Your ""man"" seems on your case, which always helps,

There is on pain with my TNT, it's just so damned annoying .It's in

hissing mode this morning.

I don't have a hearing aid as such, iSuppose it looks a tad like one

but it is not visible to the outside world .   It is flesh coloured, tanned

flesh !!!!!! that just pops in ,it's battery operated ,not the size of a car 

battery , ==sorry, my sense of humour just woke up--- 

It gives a humming noise ,adjustable  which covers the TNT noise

IF you can get the level right ,bit fiddly ,but works . Problem for

me is it;s in both so I have to keep swapping across.

I'm off for a few days holiday .third attempt.. and the machine stays at 

home,with my stress, causes of which are many.

Hi Debs,

I feel your pain as well with the tinnitus. I have bilateral cholesteatoma with another surgery scheduled 11/13/15.

My tinnitus is already so so so bad, I hope it doesn't get worse after this next surgery.
