Hi everyone. I hope you all are keeping strong through these hard times.
Just an update on my experience with cit. I started just over a year ago on 20mg of Citalopram and after about 8 weeks, I started to feel the positive effects from them and slowly got out of my pit of depression and anxiety.
I am slowly weaning myself off Cit now as even though I didn’t have many side effects, I still missed feeling human. I felt happy and worry free but nothing more or less. I guess I wanted to start taking the good with the bad again.
Anyway after about 9 months on 20mg I dropped down to 15mg (bought a pill cutter and tablet box). Luckily I had zero side effects from that reduction, in fact I actually felt better. I stayed on 15mg for 3 months and about 2 weeks ago I dropped down to 10mg. This reduction has been more difficult as I have been feeling a little bit of anxiety along with feeling more down and fatigued plus brainzaps. I also had trouble sleeping in the first week of reducing but it’s all just a mindset. I do feel better for reducing, minus the side effects of course. I am starting to feel things again, like excitement and humour. I’m starting to laugh for real again and starting to enjoy my hobbies.
I plan on staying on 10mg for a little bit longer than 15mg, as I’ll get to 4 months and see how I feel then reduce it again to 5mg, then 2.5mg then finally off it. Even if it takes me the rest of the year to wean off these I don’t mind.
Anyway I hope you are all okay and I think I speak for all of us when I say thank you to everyone on this forum, as it’s a really comforting place to be, especially when going through hard and dark times.
