Dropping things

On a lighter note - had we always dropped that much stuff or is it magnified by that now can't bend to pick it up without help?

Morning Motaung! Lol no I think you're right!! Just yesterday I dropped several things!! One day I dropped a water bottle and could not pick it up with grabber so it stayed on floor all day till my hubby got home from work!! He came in and saw it and looked at it like it was some foreign object!!! 😆😆. Have a great day!! LD

I agree! I think I have developed dropsy as part of a new hip! Will it be doubly bad once I have number two!

So agree!!

Totally agree! Loved my grabber, it had so much use.....

I think we never thought about it before until it becomes a task to over come...

LOL.........I used to drop things seemingly CONSTANTLY even way before my surgery, not being able to bend over because my hip was SO VERY messed up.  I guess I had a head start on the frustrations.smile  Now, I will have to work hard in order to get down and pick things up from the floor.  All in due time!  Happy healing everyone!

It's absolutely true that we don't appreciate it until we lose it sometimes. But it gets better. I had both hips replaced on June 29th, and it's SO MUCH BETTER now. Hang in there!

Ha Ha - I was saying the very same thing yesterday, i drop the soap every time I get in the shower, I dropped a bowl face down in the kitchen, which was just too much for the grabber! so it had to stay there all day. Its good to see the brighter side of things, however frustrating! :-)

Yep I'm sure we did, I spend loads of time saying to other half, I've lost/dropped this or that and also I have a recliner and I can raise it from side lever but I still can't push the foot rest in no matter how hard I try.

Oh I know the feeling of trying to push those recliners back in we had that before I had my hips done...  we were lucky enough to have got electric recliners due to me having difficulties and this has been a godsend to me and my recovery.

I leave a trail of things my husband just smiles and picks them up . My husband works from home so I  have been very lucky to have him here . Don't bend over I made that mistake week 1 had to go to get exrays and see the Dr . Thank goodness I didn't do any damage just painful.  Have a great day stay positive !

Even though my restrictions are lifted I still use my new best friend the Grabber...I will not get very far without this as once seated I can reach things out of easy reach.

I have been knitting and how many times do I drop the needle.... thankfully not a problem my grabber saves the day.

And my grabber has a magnetic tip- useful with metal knitting needles I have discovered!

Also coins... lol..

My phone flew out of my pocket and down the loo! I wanted a new one anyway but could not believe it jumped out of my pocket, hit the arm of the frame and woosh, I then bent forward to grab it and aarrgghhhh, suddenly remembered no fast moves lol, still that is a distannt memory now, mearly 13 months one. x

Lovely to hear from people who have finally arrived at a point where your touching normality, I don't think I will ever be normal againsmile I dream of walking unassisted and being able to not have to ask to be passed things, how hard must it be for our partners, I do take my hat off to them, they do a great job and its scary to think what we would do without them

Hooray MM!

I was initially considered for a bilateral but my surgeon nixed this due to bad osteo.

Still - it is good to hear that you have had a great experience and are well (even entusiastically so ...)?

Take care and congratulations.

The worst thing is when you drop your "grabber". I well remember using my crutches like a giant pair of chopsticks to try to pick it up! 😁😁

Me too!
