dry eyes & scar tissue

I had RLE surgery 12 weeks ago and still have dry eyes . I am using Hyco Sans eye drops . How long will this take to go away . Also the surgeon gas now told me I have scar tissue at the back of the implant . Can something be done to get rid of this . My vision is still not perfect

I had that in both of my eyes too, I just had a two second laser procedure and it was all better. About 30% of cataract surgery patients get this.As far as dry eyes, for me that lasted for quite some time. The saline eye drops are wonderful, you should give them a try.

How long after your initial surgery did you have laser treatment. What is the name of the saline drops  you used . Are they preservative free .

I use Systane Ultra drops, not sure about the preservatives. I was using Bausch and Lomb, but the Systane is less watery, more of an oil consistancy. Thicker, is what I'm getting at.

I had my laser procedures done within six months of each of my cataract surgeries but my mom had hers done

over a year later, so there is no time that I am aware of where it no longer can be done.

Are you in the UK

I am not, I am in the US

The eye drops are on Amazon UK if that's why you're asking where I'm from... I just looked.

Thank you . I'll have a look

I have had LASIK enhancement in both of my eyes. The left eye was done about 16 years after the cataract surgery while the right eye was done about 6 weeks after the cataract surgery. There is no time restriction for getting it done other than giving the eye enough time to stabilize the vision.

While LASIK enhancment is useful for correcting the vision, this is generally not the solution to getting rid of the dry eyes. As a matter of fact, one of the potential side effects of getting the LASIK enhancement is that one may get dry eyes (at least in the short term) even if one does not complain of it before the LASIK enhancement.

I don't always feel any irritation due to dry eyes, but try to use them 2 to 3 times a day because that tends to provide better vision during the day.

I am currently using Systane Ultra drops, but there is no eye-drops which work best for everyone. So, you may need to try at least couple of them to find the best one for your needs.

Lubricant eye drops

High performance

5ml sterile

I usually get this in a 10mL size, which is still a very small bottle, and may be less expensive than getting it in a 5mL size. If one is sure that one likes those, getting them in a package of 3 of 10mL is even more economical
