Dry mouth & nausea

Hi

I have been perscribed 10mg for first week increasing to 20mg in a weeks time but for how long I dont know. I am so nervous about the effects but am prepared to try anything after having history of depression with me and my family. Has only been a couple of days but must say having difficulty sleeping, my mouth is so dry like I'm thirsty and wierd disorientation and nausea feeling. Is this just paranoia about the tablets? I am worried as the only thing keeping me going is my job and I dont want the medication to effect me with work colleagues etc. Can anyone give me any hope or indication of whats going to happen.

I dont want to be taking them for long but have an appointment again with gp in 3 weeks.

Can anyone give any thoughts about my symptoms?

Thanks to anyone who replies.

Cathy

Hi cathy,

I've been on these tablets for 7 month now ( 10mg ).

The side effects are nomal unfortunately, i suffered with all the side effects, dry mouth, sweating, nausea, palpatations.

Believe me they DO pass, it took about 4 weeks for the tablets to work.

After the 4 weeks i felt like my old self again :D

I don't care if i have to stay on them forever they make me feel normal.

Good luck

michele x p.s just drink plenty of water for your dry mouth.

Thanks Michelle.

I am a bit nervous after reading some of peoples experiences here and wonder if I should ask the doc to keep me at the 10mg dosage.? Dont feel so bad today but gotta keep my eye on it I guess.

Do you know if you drink alcohol is the effect really bad? I have got a few social things coming up which I want to go to but am nervous about having a drink any experiences there?

Thanks

Hi Everyone

Hope you all had a nice day even though its been so wet.

Not such a good day for me am now on 10mg a day of Amitriptyline so hope it does something. No counselling and no CBT I am not a suitable candidate. I wonder how they worked that one out without even seeing me.

Off to take my pill and bed.

Lizzy

Hi cathy,

Regards to having a drink on cit, i didn't have one for first few weeks.

I spoke to my sis in law who is on the same tabs, she said have one see how you feel.

Maybe have a glass of wine or beer, i found the alcohol affected me quicker than normal. Felt a bit rough next day but ok if you don't overdo it.
