Dry socket

I got a tooth extracted 3 days ago and a clot formed and I noticed yesterday that part of the clot is missing now I think it came out yesterday can’t be sure though and wasn’t in too much pain since I got the tooth out only abit of discomfort but this morning it was painful enough and I took painkillers that fixed it for a couple of hours and the pain gradually came back throughout the day so I took more pain relief that was 4 hours ago and now I’m not in pain but slightly uncomfortable with it   do you think I’m developing dry socket I know dry socket usually has unbearable pain but since part of the clot is missing I think I could be developing it.    Ohh and the gum is closing in over it like it should. Would really apppreciate any responses as  I don’t know weather to take tomorrow off work and go to the dentist. Thanks in advance

Hi,

Definitely take the day off and go back to the Dentist.

Even if everything is absolutely fine it will be reassuring to know just that.

I could kick myself for not going back to my Dentist sooner when I had a dry socket and as a result I’ve had terrible trouble ever since.

If you go back early enough they can put a special dressing on to promote healing otherwise it could be problematic.

Good luck

Jane
