I am 34 years old and in June had my right ovary removed due to a cyst. Since then sometimes I have been having hot flushes could this be an early onset of the menopause due to having one ovary.
Hi Eleanor. Yes it is a symptom of hormonal changes because you only have one ovary. I had the same thing happen to me when I was 26. I had to have my right ovary removed because there was a huge cyst which totally encapsulated my ovary. That was the most painful experience I had second to childbirth of course. But I began having hot flashes and mood changes very early on after the surgery. The doctor told me that I would go into menopause earlier than normal because of the one ovary. He also said it would be difficult to conceive but that was a lie because years later when I got married, I got pregnant almost immediately. I was 35 by then and then had my second child at 39. After my second child that’s when my peri menopause symptoms hit me full on. Our reproductive system does not like to be tampered with. Any slight or major changes to it can make for some weird side effects.
thanks that really helps. i get it badly sometimes. the doctors dont pre warn you
You should try taking black cohosh. It is a supplemental herb that helps with heat flashes and other hormonal issues.
