Hey everyone I've been suffering health anxiety for 8 months coming on 9 it's been a long hard journey and recently my anxiety had been making me hear my heart beat and heart racing so the doctor sent me an app to attend my hospital for ecg which I got they said they don't give results there and then as they need to wait on doctor looking over them I phoned my gp office today and receptionist said I've to make and app with doctor for results and now cause I have health anxiety and thinking The worst am so unwell a can't eat now my hearts been racing since been told and shaking my face is flushed why can't the receptionist just tell me it's ok over the phone ? So now am thinking something's wrong.. I've worked myself up so badly.. has anyone had his happen and everything was ok.. a just want my life back where am not riddled with fear all the time
Heather, The very first thing you need to do right now is calm down by taking some long slow deep breath's.
Sit or lay down. Breathe in slowly through your nose to a count of four. Then exhale through your mouth like you're blowing out a candle. To a count of three or four .
do this several times.
You will be fine. You know how slow doctors can be with results. They get busy with other things and sometimes wait till they have seen their patients before they make phone calls.
I would think that if it was anything serious you would've had a call by now.
my guess is that they're going to tell you that your heart rate is fast and that is all. I'm thinking the adrenaline that was released when you were anxious is causing your rapid heartbeat. Very often we can hear the heartbeat. I have had that happen many times. It's scary but it won't hurt you. You just need to learn how to relax and manage the anxiety better.
in the meantime while you're waiting, you need to do other things otherwise the anxiety will get worse.
do the deep breathing exercise
listen to calming meditations on YouTube for relaxation
listen to calming music
getting overly anxious about this does no good at all in fact it makes you feel worse.
everything will be all right. Many people get the racing heart with anxiety.

A wish a could just calm down and stop this. Soon as I hear the doctor wants to see you ,it just makes me think of the worst. As the doctor only ever wants you in to discuss a problem. When I've had bloods done they tell me all clear on the phone or if it's anything that needs a prescription they tell me to pick it up. I've never had ecg done before so a don't know if it's normal to be asked to Come in for results. So frightened
This is awful so no one has had ecg and then when phoned for results told to see doctor ? I just thought if nothing wrong the receptionist would just say that. Why do a need to see the doctor? Anyone at all had this happen ?
Some doctor offices have the patient come in for results even if they are normal. I had to go in for my MRI and EEG results which were normal.
it maybe just to reassure u to ur face if it was anything serious u would have bin called in straight away or a cause for concern would have been raised straight away x

It's more likely a money thing. If they can bring you in for another appointment, they can bill your insurance. I went through something similar, and when I asked for my ECG results over the phone, they refused and said I have to come in for an appointment. Annoying because this cardiologist was 70 miles away. Anyway, my ECG came back normal. As hard as it may be, we all have to learn to not worry until there's something to worry about. Panic attacks are bad enough as for most of us, they come on when nothing stressful is going on. Hang in there, and wait as calmly as you can for your appointment.
Heather are you in UK. I am and recently had to wait to see doc for results. I think things have changed here so the receptionist aren't blamed for maybe making an error in what they tell the patient. There was nothing wrong with my tests

I have been in this situation many times and I understand your panic. Please be reassured that if there was anything serious you would be called back within 24 hours. Thank you it's just with the physical symptoms a get constantly hence the ecg in first place am just getting myself in to a panic
It's different here in U.K. We have national insurance so it's free well but really free paid through job

Yeah I would have preferred that but cause this was just through my Gp making appointment the local hospital just have technicians a think do the test so they're not trained to read the results has to be sent to doctor to look over she said

I was once convinced I had heart problems. I felt my heart racing, I felt palpitations or sometimes I would feel like my heart wasnt beating or was going to stop. Well I had an ekg done & my heart was sky rocket high but the hospital gave me results in that moment and they said everything was fine. I had another ekg done about 3 weeks ago when I was at the ER And again my heart was beating so fast I was in full panick mode, & I got results right that moment I asked the Dr is the ekg okay he said yes no reason to keep me in the er I literally stayed in the er bed for 10 min and went home lol !! You are okay anxiety makes us feel too much worry & physical symptoms.
Think u r right i got my bloods over phone too. Strange. Maybe ecg results are not so easy for the reception to read. I had to wait 4 days thinking something was wrong. Got my ecg results last week and funnily enough my symptoms aren't as bad until i start thinking about some other illness. Lol

A mean they never even phoned me a just on the off chance thought I'd phone so it was something else to get off my mind and the receptionist said yeah it just says the doctor wants to see you and that was me in panic mode a said do you know why and she just said no That's all that's written on file to make an app
