Hi I have health anxiety related to the heart, for a while it has been on the low and I haven't been suffering too much. However, I occasionally get this feeling in my chest as if someone punched it from the inside, am assuming it is just ectopic beats but if it isn't please let me know. The issue is after getting an ectopic beat I flinch and get anxious for a bit as if my heart is going to stop. If anyone else can relate I would love to hear your experience. Also does anyone know how I can deal with ectopic beats?
Hello Joses243,
I too am suffering from heart related anxiety. I’ve suffered from anxiety for quite some time. It used to be pretty severe and I have controlled it for years, but I think the pandemic has made it very difficult, and now it seems to be back with a vengeance and a real concern although with health anxiety, the concern is always real).
Now suddenly I have been having issues with my heart racing and pounding mainly upon waking, since about 30th December 2020. I have gone to the hospital twice and the EKG and bloodwork and xrays keeps coming back normal which obviously is good. Just some palpitations. Doctors think its anxiety, which will be a blessing if thats all it is. It is very scary though. I get anxiety just knowing that i MUST eventually sleep which means waking up can be a real ride. I am currently waiting on results from a Holter monitor.
This is brutal not knowing what is going in with the heart. I talk a calming magnesium powder or valerian root to try to cope. Most of the time they take the edge off. I’ve been doing a lot of prayer, which is a good thing for me. If i get a hard beat from palpitations, I take a deep breath and keep it moving. Just try to quickly distract yourself if you feel it.
I hope you feel better quickly.
Best wishes
